Wise Wednesday this week is about staying overnight in a vehicle.

Staying overnight in a vehicle is not permitted on Dartmoor, whether that’s a car, campervan, caravan or motorhome etc.

If you wish to experience a night within a vehicle be sure to head for a designated camp site.

🔥 We welcome today's government announcement of a temporary ban on the sale of disposable barbecues during the current heatwave and drought conditions.

Disposable barbecues have been linked to a number of serious wildfires across the country and pose a significant risk in the current conditions.

The risk of wildfire remains high across Dartmoor. Even the smallest spark can quickly start a wildfire, putting local communities, livestock, wildlife and our precious landscape at risk.

If you're enjoying the National Park this summer, please help protect it:

❌ Do not use disposable barbecues or light fires
❌ Do not discard ci******es, matches or glass bottles
✅ Take litter home and leave no trace
✅ If you spot a wildfire, contact the fire service immediately on 999 with the exact location.

Thank you to everyone helping to keep Dartmoor safe. Please take care and help us reduce the risk of fire during this period of hot, dry weather.

This weeks fix it Friday features an upgrade.

Previously there was a stile in this spot, however with the Land Owners permission a gate was permitted.

This particular gate is set to self close to help take away that worry of gates being left open allowing stock to pass through.
