Old Loscoe , The Lost Village

Old Loscoe , The Lost Village So , Old Loscoe Village, Normanton was built around 1865. Demolished in 1969, the only last standing buildings, the school and house until 1886

The coal mine Dom Pedro dominated that area, and the purpose as to why the village was built for the workers.

Alan Parkinson’s interpretation of the trees in the foreground, These were young Saplings in the 70s .. covering the area of where the Dom Pedro Pit Shafts are. Nowadays those trees are massive, spreading from the main Road to the backs of the Old Cottages on Loscoe Grange Farm. Three pit Shafts I believe. Alan Painted the Schoolhouses and School from his Back Bedroom in one of the cottages, and gave it to my mum as a gift when we lived at 4 loscoe Villas.

Hi I was wondering if there’s anyone out there who has any old memorabilia about a group of people who performed around the pubs and clubs of Normanton for charity. Got to be eighty something years ago now (so not holding out much hope)they performed under the umbrella of ā€œThe Busy beesā€. My Dad Bob Sinclair was part of the group and sang under the heading ā€œBob Sinclair singing miner.ā€ Any memories (even passed down ones) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
