National Changes to How Planning Applications Are Decided.

Under new Government rules, from 31 October 2026:
- Planning applications will no longer automatically be considered by a Planning Committee because an Elected Member requests a call-in.
- More applications will be determined by professionally qualified planning officers under nationally prescribed rules.
- Some applications may still be considered by Planning Committee where they meet criteria set out within the new national framework and in agreement between the Chair of Planning Committee and Director of Planning and Economic Development.

Residents will still be able to:
- View planning applications.
- Submit comments and objections.
- See the reasons behind planning decisions.
- Raise concerns where they believe proper procedures have not been followed.

Five new hedgehog habitat boxes have been in installed across Beeston Rylands today (13 October) thanks to Notts Green Rewards! 🦔 💚

The five habitat houses were successfully added at suitable locations after residents were given the chance to vote on a choice of animal houses. Populations of these wonderful spikey mammals have declined in the past two decades. By providing these additional habitat boxes, five new safe and sheltered places have been created allowing local populations to nest and/or hibernate in, helping to maintain and increase their populations.

📍 Beeston has been named one of the 11 coolest neighbourhoods in the UK by Time Out UK! 🎉

They named some great locations, but there’s so much more to love about Beeston, so we thought we’d add a few of our own. Let us know your favourites in the comments, too.

We're incredibly proud that Beeston is a part of Broxtowe, and delighted to see it recognised on the list. What do you love most about Beeston? And if it's been a while since your last visit, maybe now's the perfect time to explore.
