We’re upgrading EV chargers in council car parks.

We’re replacing older electric vehicle chargers with new, faster, and more reliable units across all council managed car parks.

🔌 Faster charging
🅿️ More charging bays at key locations
♻️ Supporting cleaner, greener travel

Work will begin soon and will be carried out in phases. Car parks will stay open, but some EV bays may be temporarily unavailable during installation.

Further information, including which car parks are included in the first phase, will be available on the Council website at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/electricvehiclecharging

We all want our children to be safe, so here are a few top tips:

· Keep hot drinks away from small children – scalds from hot drinks are the most common accident
· Always put cold water in the bath first and never leave your little one alone in the bath
· Always use a fire guard
· Do the ironing when small children aren’t present
· Be careful to put curling tongs and straighteners out of reach
· Use back rings on your cooker and turn the pan handles inwards, towards the back
· Keep household chemicals in the bottles they were bought in, locked away out of reach of little hands at all times.

Continuing Volunteers Week, we turn the spotlight to Chelsey’s Cafe and the hard work the volunteers here put in to run an affordable café and community S.E.N.D hub. This non-profit café opens its doors each Friday morning at Inham Nook Recreation Ground.

“When Chelsey died our world as we knew it changed. It means so much to know her memory has created something as wonderful as Chelsey’s cafe. She would be so pleased to see what the cafe is achieving,” said Michelle, one of the café’s founders.

“Helping others that need it and bringing back a sense of togetherness to a somewhat fractured community is exactly what Chelsey was trying to do.”

Everyone that volunteers knew Chelsey, and working at the café is something each of the 7 volunteers are very proud to be involved with. “It’s an amazing feeling knowing we are able to offer support and help the children have fun and learn new skills” said Kirstie, one of the volunteers who helps plan and organise the events.

📣 EXCITING NEWS!! 📣

Join us at Hemlock Happening this Saturday, 6 June to be in with a chance to spot a RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire Fly Past!

The Spitfire is the most famous British fighter aircraft in history, and this year marks the 90th anniversary since the first flight of the Supermarine Spitfire.

The Royal Air Force Participation have scheduled a Battle of Britain Memorial Fly Past over Bramcote Hills Park at 4.40pm, and the best place to view it will be on the park.

Please note that due to the nature of a fly past it is subject to weather or aircraft serviceability on the day, so please keep your fingers crossed for the day. 🤞

Due to the fly past the use of drones / UVAs (unmanned aerial vehicles), fireworks, kites, hot air balloons, model aircrafts are NOT permitted above the Hemlock Happening event site at Bramcote Hills Park between 1.00pm and 6.00pm.

We also ask that anyone attending uses the events free car park on Ilkeston Recreation Ground to be considerate to residential streets nearby.

Please keep an eye on our channels for further updates. 👀

June is Pride Month. It’s all about acceptance, equality, and being proud of who you are no matter who you love.

Earlier today in Beeston Square, The Mayor, Councillor Barbara Carr raised the Pride flag to mark this month.

The Mayor shared, “Let us show unwavering support to the LGBTQ+ community within Broxtowe and further afield, as we continue to recognise and respect the rights of individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

I am honoured to be able to raise this flag as a symbol of solidarity with, and celebration of, the LGBTQ+ community.”
