Stanford House
(The History)
Royal Celebration
In 1775 William Stanford took over and remodeled the property today known as Stanford House.
William Stanford, a wealthy silk merchant who took over his uncle William Elliots business and wealth.
William was a fierce royalist, and in 1789, when King George the 3rd recovered from his mental illness and the town was illuminated, the decoration of Mr. Stanford’s house was impressive. He gave a hogshead of ale to all his neighbours so that they could drink the King’s health.
But not everything turned into a celebration as in same evening reports and dissappearance of a missing woman still remains unresolved.
“But beneath the elegance, something else lingers. Centuries of footsteps. Stories that never left. And a presence that still moves through these rooms.”
Reports have claimed to have pressure feelings in certain rooms, being touched, footsteps heard, loud bangs and knocks in the house. Along with intelligent communication connected to the history of the house.
