Ye Olde Salutation Inn
(Poisoned Landlord)

A story of misfortune and poison 💀

The tragedy occurred back in 1820, when landlord at the time John Green had an issue with rats within the pub. To solve the rat problem John Green brought a large quantity of arsenic to resolve the problem, this somehow got mixed with the domestic supply of oatmeal.

Following this the whole household was poisoned but all recovered with the exception of John Green, the landlord. Leading to his unfortunate death.

John is still believed to haunt the pub, still to this day.

Stanford House
(The History)
Royal Celebration

In 1775 William Stanford took over and remodeled the property today known as Stanford House.

William Stanford, a wealthy silk merchant who took over his uncle William Elliots business and wealth.

William was a fierce royalist, and in 1789, when King George the 3rd recovered from his mental illness and the town was illuminated, the decoration of Mr. Stanford’s house was impressive. He gave a hogshead of ale to all his neighbours so that they could drink the King’s health.

But not everything turned into a celebration as in same evening reports and dissappearance of a missing woman still remains unresolved.

“But beneath the elegance, something else lingers. Centuries of footsteps. Stories that never left. And a presence that still moves through these rooms.”

Reports have claimed to have pressure feelings in certain rooms, being touched, footsteps heard, loud bangs and knocks in the house. Along with intelligent communication connected to the history of the house.

Faded Footsteps X Ye Olde Salutation Inn

(The Story of Rosie)

We start of this series at The Sal with Rosie.

Ye Olde Salutation Inns most famous resident…

Local legend says Rosie was a young flower seller in the courtyard. One evening, she stepped into the path of a passing carriage… and the impact was fatal.

They carried her down into the caves beneath the pub, until a medical help arrived.

But she never made it in time and passed away in the caves.

After her death, customers began complaining of strange scratches, the scratches only stopped when the landlord left a doll for her in the caves. Since then, people have kept bringing toys.

One landlord tried removing the toys once.
Every barrel of beer in the cellar went off overnight.

Visitors still report tiny footsteps, tugging on clothing… and the feeling of a small hand slipping into theirs in the dark.

Whether she’s lonely… playful… or just curious… Rosie remains here.
A little girl frozen in time, wandering the caves beneath Nottingham’s most haunted pub

So if you want to pay Rosie a visit, why not join Faded Footsteps on our next paranormal investigation ghost hunt.
