The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the team are ready to welcome you to Nunnington this week.

The gardens are looking lovely at the moment, with flowers blooming around every corner.

The Tea Garden is the perfect spot to enjoy listening to the wildlife in the garden, while enjoying a light refreshment. If it’s a bit of shade you’re looking for, the house has lots to offer from finding out about the previous owners and the halls history, to exploring the British Wildlife Photography Awards exhibition, there really is something for everyone, in the cooler parts of the property.

And, if the above isn’t quite enough, we also have a well stocked second hand book room with authors from every genre to explore. Whether you’re looking for a more active jaunt in the outdoors or a slower paced peruse - you’ll find opportunities for both at Nunnington.

It’s Half Term here at Nunnington and just as we planned, the sun is shining, the ice cream is ready to scoop and the Brilliant Bugs family trail is ready to be enjoyed - as illustrated here by our resident peacock.

Ok, so we can’t always guarantee great weather but we can guarantee beautiful open green space and plenty of fun for the kids. From doing the bee waggle dance to mixing and matching your butterflies, there’s lots to explore on your next visit.

Iris watch is upon us! They are now coming into their own, showcasing pops of colour in the borders and across our gardens.

The iris garden, which has a flowering iris for each month of the year, is currently awash with Petit Tigre and Wrangler, which are certainly stealing the show at present.

If you’re looking for somewhere to sit and pause, be surrounded by nature and enjoy the beautiful iris, then the garden here, with accessible paths, a wildlife pond and an array of diverse plants, is a great place to do just that.

Open Tuesday - Sunday 10.30 - 5pm.
