The Mandelson affair should bring this government crashing down and strip away any remaining credibility of the Labour right. Mandelson and his wing of the party are a disgrace. The left, and Jeremy Corbyn, were right all along. Corbyn refused to let Mandelson anywhere near him as prime minister—and that is what integrity looks like.

Jeremy Corbyn is a principled and inspiring leader. His recognition of independent candidates is welcome and significant.

I am supporting Mohammed Azam and Dawn Aspinall for the CEC in the North West. Both have now crossed the threshold. Please endorse if you haven’t already.

We were fortunate enough to attend the Your Party conference in Liverpool over the weekend, and I left feeling genuinely inspired and uplifted. Despite a few expected ups and downs, members should be proud of what we accomplished. It marked the historic launch of a major new political party — the first in many years — and Your Party now stands as a political movement ready to take on the challenges ahead.
The members voted for “collective membership”. The new member-led executive will take the big decisions around the party’s management and strategy, with a chair, deputy chair and spokesperson helping to provide public leadership.
Democratic socialism was clearly at the forefront throughout the conference. With its commitment to being an explicitly anti-austerity, anti-oppression party rooted in local communities, there is growing confidence that Your Party will continue to expand. It appears well-positioned to challenge both a weakened Labour and the far-right Reform in future local and national elections. A Salford Labour councillor has today joined Your Party resigning from the Labour Party. The first in Greater Manchester.
