Collection update: hot weather changes ☀️

With high temperatures forecast this week, our household waste and recycling crews will begin collections earlier at 4.45am on Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th and Friday 15th.

Please make sure your bins are presented the night before your collection day so crews can work safely during the coolest part of the day and avoid the peak heat.

Thank you for your support and for helping us keep our crews safe in the hot weather. ♻️🚛🌡️

🌿 As part of Love Parks Week, we want to spotlight one of Oxford's well-loved green spaces - Port Meadow 💚

Home to horses, cattle, swans and other wildlife, Port Meadow is a special place for both nature and the local community 🦢 🐴

Keeping it clean helps protect the animals that graze there and makes it more enjoyable for everyone to visits. Our team regularly collect litter to help keep the meadow safe and looking its best 🧹

This Love Parks Week, you can help too. If bins are full, please take your litter home to help protect the wildlife, as animals can mistake litter for food.

Collection update: hot weather changes

With temperatures forecast to reach 32°C tomorrow, our domestic recycling and waste crews will be starting collections one hour earlier to help keep colleagues safe and avoid working in the hottest part of the day.

🕔 Start time: 05:00 instead of 06:00
♻️ Full service will still be completed

If your collection is due tomorrow — Wednesday 29 July — please put your bins out tonight so they’re ready for the earlier start.

Collections will return to normal from Thursday onwards.

Thank you for helping us protect our crews in the heat.

Our Grounds Maintenance team is out in Oxford’s parks every day, keeping them clean and safe, while caring for the wildlife that lives there 🐴 Their work often happens early in the morning or quietly in the background, but it’s a huge part of why our green spaces look so good.

Love Parks Week is the perfect time to celebrate the people who care for these spaces, and to shine a light on the parks and green areas that mean the most to our communities 🌼

We’d love to hear from you this week. Tell us which Oxford park or green space is your favourite, or send us a photo of a spot you love 📸 ⬇️

Today marks the start of Love Parks Week, running until Sunday 2 August 💚

It’s an annual celebration of everything our parks and green spaces offer. Here in Oxford, we are lucky enough to have some beautiful green spaces right on our doorstep.

Parks help boost our wellbeing, bring communities together and support a healthier planet. It’s also a great opportunity to recognise the dedicated people who look after these spaces every day 🌳🧹

Garden Waste Collection Reminder 🌿

Due to this week’s extreme heat, some garden waste collections were postponed. Please remember to put your bin out the night before your revised collection date.

📅 Updated collection schedule:
➡️ Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th June ➜ collected Saturday 27th June
➡️ Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June ➜ collected Monday 29th June

Pausing garden waste collections has allowed crews to prioritise waste, recycling and food waste services, which take longer to complete during periods of extreme heat.

Thank you for your patience and understanding 🙏
