The Women's Equality Party Oxfordshire

The Women's Equality Party Oxfordshire branch of The Women's Equality Party - the UK's fastest growing political party. Becaus Equality for women isn’t a women’s issue.

When women fulfill their potential, everyone benefits. Equality means better politics, a more vibrant economy, a workforce that draws on the talents of the whole population and a society at ease with itself. The Oxford branch is for WEP supporters up to 50 miles radius of the city. The Women’s Equality Party will be a new non-partisan force in British politics bringing together women and men of al

l ages and backgrounds, united in the campaign for women to enjoy the same rights and opportunities as men so that both s*xes can flourish. The Women’s Equality Party will work towards such a society. We will push for equal representation in politics and business to ensure women’s voices are heard at the same volume as men’s. We will urge an education system that creates opportunities for all girls and boys and an understanding of why this matters. We will press for equal pay and equal parenting rights enabling women and men to share opportunity and responsibility in the workplace and at home. We will seek an end to violence against women. We will bring about change by winning—support, votes and seats. We will not try to present ourselves as a party with an answer on every issue and a full palette of policies. Our focus will be clear and unambiguous and we will not stop attracting votes from the other political parties until they embrace and adopt our agenda of equality.

Also, some of the UK’s most eminent entertainers and authors have rallied round JK Rowling after she was subjected to an onslaught of abuse and death threats on social media.

Meanwhile WEP HQ continue with their GRA consultation, now two years behind schedule and looking rather academic after the government’s decision… there are also serious questions about its neutrality, since those identifying as non-binary have been selectively chosen to be part of the Assembly whilst only one woman from the women’s s*x-based caucus (with over 1,000 signatories) has been chosen. The focus has been “to shift the dialogue” rather than maintain the status quo.

WE are concerned by the direction of the party that WE founded. A political party built with our funds, with our labour, with our passion, informed by our feminist principles. WE founded and built WEP, a political party originally formed to focus upon the structural subjugation of women and girl...

Really enjoyed our Reading Group last night and welcome to the new members who joined us. We discussed Inferior by Angela Saini, which reviews research into s*x differences. It covers endocrinology, neuroscience, evolutionary theory, comparison with reproductive strategies of primates and other mammals, including social theory, FGM, femicide, Chinese foot-binding and breast ironing. Also, the role of women as hunter-gatherers and the importance of grandmothers in increasing the life chances of children.

The book also shines a light on the bias of male scientists, who from Darwin to modern day, still search for evidence to support their hypotheses that females are biologically and intellectually inferior. The female researchers who challenge them experience prejudice and barriers in getting their studies cited and accepted. Next book is: Queenie by Candice Cartie-Williams. To be discussed on Sunday, 2nd August from 8pm-9pm.

Domestic Abuse Bill - Third reading this Monday 6th July.
Please write to your local MP, asking her/him to vote in the amendments being put forward by Jess Phillips and Priti Patel. Also, ask for misogyny to be included as a hate crime and for it to be a statutory duty for local authorities to provide domestic abuse services with ring fenced money. Email: [email protected] to receive the template letter.

88% of nurses and health visitors are female. We urgently need women's bikes and donations for a waiting list of 200+ female workers who want to cycle to work in Oxon. See scheme and for Oxfordshire's NHS and social care workers.
