Great news from our neighbours in Nunhead!

Update on the “Nunhead” sign under the bridge outside Nunhead station. This was raised with us a while back pointing out that it had become unclean and covered with graffiti. I contacted Network Rail about the sign and, after some back and forth, they’ve agreed to have it cleaned and repainted. The cost of repainting will be covered from local 'Cleaner Greener, Safer' funding. Network Rail tell me their team will clean the sign next week and the repainting is likely to happen in May when the weather is better

At last! New Adventure Playground work underway

Peckham Rye Adventure Playground is being rebuilt thanks to a £500,000 investment secured by local councillors Victoria Mills and Renata Hamvas.

Labour continues to prioritise young people’s access to adventurous and exciting play, which helps build resilience and confidence.

While we’re disappointed it has taken longer than expected, construction is now underway, with completion due very soon. Local residents helped shape the design, ensuring the new playground reflects the community’s needs.

Southwark Labour remains firmly committed to creating high-quality green spaces and putting children and young people first. We’re proud to deliver a facility that will encourages another generation of local children to be healthy, explore, problem-solve and become more independent in a safe environment.

Topping out marks progress on new council homes

Cllr Renata Hamvas attended the recent topping out of the new council homes on Linden Grove, where 27 high-quality homes for council rent are being built for local families.

Southwark Labour is committed to delivering much-needed affordable housing but also making sure that existing residents see vital improvements to communal space. With construction progressing well, these new homes will be completed very soon.

Together with the 23 new council homes at Rye Hill Park, this is a clear sign of our commitment to tackling the housing crisis locally.

Cleaner, greener and beautiful Limes Walk!

We were delighted to fund the new mural at Limes Walk following residents’ requests.

We want to make sure that when big changes such as new council homes are brought to our estates, existing residents benefit too.

At Limes Walk we have delivered the Garden Room and the new mural and soon there will be additional landscaping around the new homes that all residents can enjoy. This shows the impact of resident involvement in determining how their shared spaces will look and evolve.

We congratulate the community for their hard work in shaping a welcoming environment for current and future neighbours.

- Putting tenants and leaseholders first, listening to your needs
- Investing £250 million to upgrade homes to the highest safety standards
- Prioritising estate cleaning and getting repairs right first time

Labour is investing £20 million locally to revitalise our communities. This investment is paid for by our local tax on big developers. Here in Peckham Rye that means the Peckham Rye Park toilets will soon get the refurbishment they urgently need.

Your Labour council is also supporting people struggling due to the Conservative Cost of Living crisis. We’ve lifted 7,000 people out of poverty pay by guaranteeing them a living wage, winning two national awards from the Living Wage Foundation.

As the cost of living rises, we have supported more than 100,000 residents with our £53 million Cost of Living Fund. Your Labour councillors will always support anyone who is struggling to make ends meet.
