Edington Day Centre Edington Day Centre is a establishment based in Penrith, Cumbria, caring for local vulnerable adults.

This page is dedicated to their crafts which are made by the service users and the adventures they get up to. This page is not in collaboration with the Westmorland and Furness council and has been set up and run by a volunteer group.

Quick catch up from the last couple of weeks....

Our green fingered gardening group continues to work hard planting in the greenhouse, keeping the garden tidy and planting up flowers and veg 🌼

Some staff held an in-house Makaton lesson for everyone last week. It's always good to brush up on our communication skills.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Helen Holliday in for an afternoon of songs and dancing. Thanks so much Helen, the guys love having you with us ❤️

Finally, our horse riders got in a little more practice last week, ready for the upcoming competition..
Charlotte takes the guys to their riding session every week and is usually seen encouraging from the sidelines.
Last week however, she was somehow persuaded to get in the saddle herself!
We actually haven't seen Charlotte this week! She was last seen on the back of a galloping horse heading into the hills!

We've been getting creative again......

Catch up from last week...

And what a week it was 🌞🌞🌞

It wouldn't be the Edington Centre without some friendly competition between friends. Steve and Suzanne challenged each other to a race in the pool!
The perfect way to cool down on a roasting hot day 🥵

Meanwhile our riders got in the saddle for some practice for an upcoming competition at Eden Riding for the Disabled. We can't wait to see them perform on the day ❤️

The guys had some lovely local walks and trips out, stopping for a game of crazy golf in Penrith and wandering around Penrith Castle.

Others stayed back at the centre, playing games, making kites, chopping wood and digging in the garden.

We finished the week in the best way, with a delicious ice lolly 🍦

Spring has delivered the goods this week .....

A week spent outside for us.

Planting up some seeds and getting the garden ready for a very competitive Edington sports day!
Everyone got really stuck in to an excellent morning of sports.

We had a visit to Morecambe to enjoy this glorious weather, and at the beginning of the week, the textiles group had a day out to Aira Force for some Squirrel spotting! The group is working on a squirrel based project this term which we can't wait to see!

About last week ....

It's incredible how much we can fit in to 5 days!

Last week we had a police training day with Cumbria Police, this is always a really engaging and informative day for everyone.

Next we had a day out in Silloth, because why not when the weather gods shine 🌞

On Wednesday a group had a trip on La'al Ratty, the famous Ravenglass railway line, this is always a firm favorite for the guys 🚉

We ended the week with games, shopping for supplies, a BBQ and a music session in the garden with the lovely Helen ♥️

I think Josh's smile sums up how we all felt last week ♥️

And the answer is ......No 🌧️🌧️The waters were rough and the skies dark on our first sailing day of the year.Fortunately...

The waters were rough and the skies dark on our first sailing day of the year.
Fortunately, we're made of tough stuff up north so we had a brilliant day on the lake.

Spring arrived last week!! Did you see it??

A group headed out to Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve to enjoy the beautiful weather. Dubwath sits just at the end of Bassenthwaite Lake and is becoming a regular visit for us ♥️

Meanwhile others stayed back at the centre for some basketball practice and baking.

The question is, did this gorgeous weather hold up for our first sailing trip of the year? ..........
