💁🏼‍♀️I was delighted to be able to chair a fringe event at SNP conference for Robert Gordon University with a fantastic panel. The discussion was on how universities deliver for our local economies.

🚌 The £2 bus fare cap is coming to the North East from April 2027! Absolutely fantastic news for people across Banffshire and Buchan Coast! Some of the prices people have been paying for relatively short journeys have been extortionate, so this is going to make a real difference. Whether it’s getting to work, college, appointments or visiting family, capping eligible single fares at £2 means more money staying in people’s pockets.

Bus services were one of the very first issues raised with me when I became an MSP, and something I’ve continued to raise ever since. So I’m absolutely delighted to see John Swinney and our SNP Scottish Government taking action. This is exactly what we should be doing, helping people with the cost of living and making everyday life more affordable and accessible.

And it’s not just about cheaper fares! The Scottish Government is also moving towards greater public control of our bus services through franchising, giving public authorities more say over routes, fares and how services are run. Public money should be working for the public, and I’m delighted we’re seeing real action to make our buses work better for the communities who depend on them. A brilliant step forward for the north east! 💛

What a weekend and what an absolutely outstanding SNP conference! 💛

It was just lovely to see so many fellow party members, catch up with friends, meet new people and, in amongst all the business, find a wee bit of time to let our hair down too!

I also had some really interesting conversations with fantastic organisations doing incredible work for people in our communities. I’ll share more about some of those over the next few days.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 In a world of so much chaos and uncertainty, we’re incredibly fortunate to have John Swinney leading Scotland. Someone we know we can trust and rely on, who works tirelessly to stand up for Scotland and our interests, both at home and on the world stage, and to make Scotland work for everyone.

So much to feel positive about, including our Choose Scotland campaign for independence and the fantastic news that the £2 bus fare cap is coming to the northeast from April!

I came away feeling more convinced than ever that the SNP is the only party truly standing up for Scotland, and that now, more than ever, Scotland needs independence.

💁🏼‍♀️I’m so proud to be part of this movement and to play my part in making it happen.

Last week I had the opportunity to meet with Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) and discuss their incredible work supporting children with life-shortening conditions and their families. 🤍🫂

CHAS delivers an exceptional service for children and families across Scotland, including Banffshire and Buchan Coast, through:

• Care at hospital
• End of life care
• Bereavement support
• Family support

🕯️ Tonight at 7pm, the ‘Wave of Light' will take place, which commemorates every much loved and missed baby who has passed away, and helps raise awareness on pregnancy and baby loss.

🫶🏻 You can join the Wave of Light by lighting a candle for 1 hour in remembrance, and posting a photo on your social media.

🙌🏻 It was a real privilege to host an important discussion on human rights and tackling poverty, bringing together voices from Amnesty International, End Poverty Edinburgh, Glasgow Disability Alliance and the Human Rights Consortium Scotland, alongside Equalities Minister Simita Kumar MSP - Edinburgh South Western.

🗣️ Human rights aren’t abstract, they’re about whether people can live with dignity, access the support and services they need, have a safe home, enough food and heating, and a genuine voice in the decisions that affect them.

➡️ Strengthening economic and social rights in Scotland can help change that. Legislation alone won’t end poverty, but stronger rights can mean stronger accountability and a clearer expectation that everyone should be treated with dignity.

🫶🏻 A thoughtful and important conversation and a big thank you to everyone who came along and contributed.
