As part of National Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the wonderful people who give their time to support our community – and Dave is definitely one of them.

Dave can often be found pottering in the Community Garden, whether it's taking his turn on the fortnightly mowing rota, tidying the lawn edges (which have never looked so neat!), weeding the flowerbeds, or introducing new plants that he's successfully persuaded the local garden centre to donate.

His hard work, enthusiasm and care help keep the gardens looking beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

In our latest blog post, Dave shares, in his own words, why he chooses to volunteer in the Community Garden: https://stroudvillagehall.org/why-i-volunteer-according-to-dave/

This week is National Volunteers' Week (1–7 June), and we want to say a HUGE thank you to all our fantastic volunteers, including:

Our Board of Trustees, who are passionate about the important role the village hall plays in community life and are dedicated to ensuring it continues to thrive as a central hub for the benefit of the whole village.

Our Community Garden volunteers, who work so hard to keep the hall gardens looking beautiful and are committed to creating a green space where wildlife can flourish and everyone can enjoy time in nature.

And our brilliant Revels Committee volunteers, who give up their time each year to organise the Stroud Revels. This wonderful village tradition simply wouldn't happen without their hard work, dedication and endless enthusiasm.

In a world that can sometimes feel increasingly disconnected and divided, community spaces offer something incredibly valuable: a place where people can come together, feel connected to their community, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

So, thank you once again to all our volunteers. You are at the heart of what makes our village such a special place, and this week we celebrate everything you do.

Thank you to volunteer gardeners Glen and Philip for making this lovely seating area near the stream, complete with a beautiful handwoven willow fence around the flowerbed to protect the little seedlings.

We are enormously grateful that you give up your time to care for the community garden and to create a space for us all to sit and watch the flowers grow!
