Thank you to all of those who came along to the litter pick today! We had over 8 sacks of rubbish and the largest find was an old road sign post half buried on the Broadway. Watch the Petham Village FB page and Petham Events WhatsApp group (if you’d like to be added to the group please text 07810 543808) for dates of the next one in May!

QR codes have been stuck onto some of our parking machines today, such as this one pictured in North Lane.

Payment for parking by QR code is not something we offer at any of our car parks, or for on-street parking.

Please do not scan any QR code you see on a parking machine.

We have checked these stickers and they go to what appears to be quite a professional website, but it is NOT legit and is highly likely to be a scam where you will lose your money.

Machines across the district are being checked and any QR codes will be removed.

If you are paying for parking using your mobile phone, either call the number on the machine or download the Ringo app from your Apple or Android device.

The Household Support Fund is a scheme funded by the government to help low-income households and is open again for applications via CCC.

The money CCC have been given is to help residents with costs like food, bills and other essentials such as clothing.

This round will close at 11.59pm on Friday 15 March.

To apply for a payment, you must:

✅ live in the Canterbury district and be 16 or over (including university students)
✅ not have access to any money to support your situation
✅ have a total household income of £30,000 or less - this includes any money from employment or benefits

You can only apply for one type of help per household - so for example, you cannot submit an application for food bills and an application for help with energy costs.

You can only be given a payment once between August 2023 and March 2024, so you can't apply again if you've already had money from CCC.

Petham Parish Council are seeking input to support the application for a CCC grant towards the siting of a Petham Village Sign.

We would like to hear if you support the idea of a sign welcoming people to the village, and drawing on the heritage and history of Petham. It is planned that the sign will be sited on Parish Council land at the foot of Vicarage Hill where it joins The Street.

We would also like suggestions of elements of village life that might be ncluded in the sign. We have already worked on the ideas of including elements like:

- A cricket ball to celebrate Kenfield Hall’s cricket history
- Crops including apples and grapes to celebrate local agriculture
- All Saints Church
- The Nailbourne
- Livestock

A first draft of the proposed sign is shown here.

If you have ideas please let us know. We need to submit the funding application by close of play on 20/09 so please email (or comment here) [email protected] with ideas and, if in favour of the idea, your support
