Plains Foodbank and The Colbert Heuston Collective are pleased to announce our annual Christmas lunch will take place Saturday December 20th in St Davids Parish Hall at 12pm.

We would like to invite our elderly and isolated within the community along for an afternoon of socialising and live entertainment.

We are now taking names so if you would like to attend or wish to put anyone forward please contact ourselves directly, Michael Traynor, Thomas Peden or put names down in Rias barbers.

Cut off for registering is Monday December 1st at 10pm.

Mini Bus Available For Transport PLEASE REQUEST @ BOOKING.

There will be no charge on this it’s a free afternoon and we encourage everyone eligible to come along.

Appeal for Information: Break-in at St. David’s Parochial House:

We regret to inform you that there was a break-in at St. David’s Parochial House at the end of last week.

A sum of money was taken, along with some of Father Bergin’s personal belongings.

These actions are deeply deplorable and will not be tolerated in our village. This kind of behaviour is completely out of character for our community, and we are all saddened and angered by it. If anyone has any information that may assist in this matter, please come forward and contact us.

This incident is not just an attack on our church and priest, but on our entire parish community. We understand that times are difficult for many, but to steal from the chapel is a despicable act that goes against everything we stand for.

This year, instead of our annual fun day in the park, we’re doing something different.

We know it’s been a hard year for many with losses and illness, we didn’t feel it appropriate to have our usual fun day in the park so we’re replacing the day in the park with a free community trip to Blackpool 🎢✨

📢 Attention All Community Groups in Plains – Funding Available!

The Plains Community Fund is now open for applications! We encourage every group to apply – there’s plenty in the pot, so don’t miss out!

We will ensure this is publicised everywhere, but please share to help spread the word and make sure everyone gets a fair crack at this opportunity.

If any group is facing issues with their application, contact us directly for help and support.

The fund supports charitable activities that contribute to at least one of the following:
🔸 Improved physical and/or mental health & well-being
🔸 Reduced isolation or loneliness within the community
🔸 Increased access to education, learning & employment
🔸 Improvements to the local environment
🔸 Reduced food or fuel poverty

The fund is a long-term fund for the Plains community and will be available for the operating life time of the Greengairs East wind farm which is expected to be about 30 years. Over £30,000 is available for distribution each year.

Cornelius Colbert Sean Heuston Irish Heritage Group is here to support all members of our community during this period of adverse weather.

If any elderly or vulnerable individuals require essentials, such as groceries or other necessary items, our members are available to assist with shopping or collections. This service is open to everyone in the community, regardless of race, creed, gender, or background.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you or someone you know needs help. Together, we can ensure everyone stays safe and cared for.

Cornelius Colbert Sean Heuston Irish Heritage Group would like to clarify that Saturday’s event is open to everyone, regardless of creed, gender, or sexuality. The group has always embraced inclusivity and diversity, and any claims suggesting otherwise are completely false.

We are proud to have support and membership from individuals of various religious backgrounds, and all events we organise, both past and present, have always been inclusive and welcoming to everyone in our village.

It is disappointing to see malicious and unfounded narratives being spread within the community, particularly the suggestion that our group is exclusively for Catholics. This has never been the case. Such statements are not only untrue but also divisive, seeking to undermine the spirit of unity and respect that our group stands for.

We encourage everyone in the community to join us on Saturday and experience the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our event firsthand. Together, let us celebrate our community, values of respect, inclusion, and togetherness.

There is NO unity without COMMUNITY.
