Residents and visitors to are advised about the installation of cameras to carry out traffic surveys at key locations โ€“ noting that these will be neither disruptive, nor used for enforcement purposes.

The Council will soon be carrying out traffic surveys using CCTV and number plate recognition cameras, to gather information on traffic movements, and to assess Pontypriddโ€™s highways network and capacity.

They will be installed over the coming days at Sardis Gyratory, Sardis Road, Rhondda Road, Mill Street, Catherine Street, Gelliwastad Road, Crossbrook Street, Taff Street, Morgan Street, Berw Road, Bridge Street, Bridge Street Roundabout, Sainsburyโ€™s Roundabout, Broadway and the Broadway/High Street junction.

Their installation will be carried out by Severnside Transportation Data Collection Ltd, before collecting data between Saturday, October 10, and Saturday, October 17.

The Council would like to reiterate that the cameras will be used for data collection purposes only, and will not be used for any enforcement action.

The surveys are part of the ongoing work to inform investment proposals for the Pontypridd Northern Gateway, with the information helping to inform the development and assessment of future options for the area.

RCTCBC is offering financial assistance for a range of heating upgrades including renewable energy heating options and (where required) other minor energy efficiency measures alongside heating options. The grant is funded by the Welsh Government through the UK Local Growth Fund in Wales and can provide financial assistance up to a maximum of ยฃ5,000 for owner occupiers.

To qualify you must be owner-occupier, have a net household income under ยฃ30,576 after any mortgage repayment costs and savings under ยฃ16,000.

A partnership improving access to healthcare and support for veterans and the wider Armed Forces community across Cwm Taf Morgannwg has been named as a finalist in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTM UHB) Seren Annual Awards 2026. ๐Ÿ‘

The Health, Veterans and Armed Forces Partnership has been shortlisted for the Peopleโ€™s Choice Award, which recognises an individual or team that has made a significant difference to peopleโ€™s experiences of healthcare, support or services.

The partnership is a collaboration between Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board), Valley Veterans (Valley veterans), Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Interlink RCT (Interlink RCT) and a range of health, local authority and third-sector partners to improve access to healthcare, wellbeing and community support for veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their families.

Around 15,500 veterans live in Cwm Taf Morgannwg, representing one of the largest veteran communities in South Wales. However, local evaluation found that veterans could face barriers to accessing support โ€“ including stigma, past trauma, difficulties navigating services and a reluctance to identify themselves as veterans.

The partnership was developed with veterans and their families to address these barriers and ensure services are shaped by their experiences. Its work includes:
๐Ÿ‘‰ training GP practice staff
๐Ÿ‘‰ improving how veterans are identified and recorded within healthcare systems
๐Ÿ‘‰ strengthening referral routes
๐Ÿ‘‰ and bringing NHS services into trusted community settings.

One of the changes introduced has been to encourage GP practices to ask patients directly whether they have served in the Armed Forces. The number of identified veterans at Veteran Friendly GP practices in the region has since increased from 262 to 369, representing an increase of around 40%.

A regular NHS presence has also been established at the Valley Veterans Hub in Pentre, enabling veterans to access support in a familiar community environment where they may feel more comfortable discussing their needs. In May 2026, it became the only veteransโ€™ partnership in Wales to have a Clinical Lead for veteransโ€™ health. Its work has also included veteransโ€™ healthcare training for GP practices and primary care teams, outreach within hospitals and the development of a community support booklet featuring 40 local organisations.
