πŸ“’ Can You Help Trace the Oakley Family of Beoley?

I'm sharing this on behalf of Philip Oakley, who is hoping to connect with anyone who may have information about his family history in Beoley.
Philip's great-grandfather, Frank Oakley, was born in the Northfield Workhouse in December 1880 and spent his early years living in Beoley before leaving around 1900. He later joined the Army during the First World War and was sadly killed at Ypres, Belgium, in 1917. Frank was awarded the Military Medal (MM) for bravery.

Despite extensive research, Philip has been unable to find a single photograph of Frank or any of his relatives. Records from the workhouse and military archives have yielded no photographs, making this search especially important to him.

There were many Oakley families and branches of the family living in and around Beoley during the 1800s, so Philip is wondering whether any descendants still live locally or whether anyone researching local history, genealogy, school records, or old family photographs may have information.

If you have connections to the Oakley family, old photographs, school records, local history collections, or know someone who might be able to help, please get in touch.

Even the smallest piece of information could help solve a family mystery stretching back more than 125 years.
Thank you for reading and sharing.

Beoley Parish Council would like to extend a huge thank you to all the local residents who came out to support the opening of our new community project, made possible through Community Legacy Grant funding from Bromsgrove District Council.

We believe everyone who attended agreed that this is a fantastic and positive addition to the parish β€” a wonderful space for the whole community to enjoy.

All the works on the field were carried out by quality local businesses:

The benches were made by local carpentry business Rustic Owl.

The fencing and trim trail were installed by local builder and landscaper Jcservicesgroup

We think everyone will agree that the workmanship looks built to last!

We hope this project will continue to grow and develop in the future, providing a welcoming open space for all members of our community to come together and enjoy.
