Dog Bag Dispensers:

Please only take what you need when using the free bags in the dispensers. In recent weeks one dispenser has been completely emptied twice and this is not normal use. The whole community pays for the bags via the Community Council part of the Council Tax bill. Please be fair to all and use responsibly. Thank you.

The meeting of the council’s Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee scheduled for Friday, 19 December, has been cancelled.

The committee was due to consider the Local Impact Report for the proposed Nant Mithil Energy Park development.

However, correspondence has been received from Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) confirming that the application by Nant Mithil Energy Park Limited has been suspended for nine weeks.

The determination period will now resume on 16 February 2026, with details of a new consultation period to be confirmed by PEDW early in the New Year. The committee meeting will be rescheduled once further confirmation has been received.

Update from Bute Energy:

We are pleased to announce that Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) has now accepted the Nant Mithil Energy Park application for a Development of National Significance (DNS).

Since we submitted our DNS application to PEDW at the end of 2024, we were asked to carry out further surveys to supplement those already completed. After completing these and submitting the additional information to PEDW, it now considers our Environmental Statement to be complete and it will publicise and consult on the final DNS application.

Since our statutory pre-application consultation in 2024, we have made the following updates to the application:
To reduce the landscape and visual impacts of our proposals, we have removed the anemometer mast and turbine number 27 together with their associated infrastructure.
T28 and T29 have been moved 50m south to address consultation responses from residents to north of the Site.
To reduce the impact on heritage assets, we have repositioned turbine 25.
To reduce the impact on habitats, we have reduced the overall length of on-site tracks and cabling corridors.
Revised substation alignment to minimise cut and fill to ground levels at this location.
Temporary security cabin at the Site entrance added, during construction only.
The overall size of the application site boundary has been reduced.

PEDW are now running a consultation on the application from Tuesday 18 November 2025 to Tuesday 23 December 2025. Anyone who wishes to view the application can do so by searching reference number CAS-01907-D7Q6Z1 at planningcasework.service.gov.wales/case.

You can respond to this consultation by emailing [email protected].

This is your final opportunity to give your views on the proposal, and your feedback will be considered by the appointed Planning Inspector.

Thank you for your continued interest in the project and we will continue to keep you updated as the project progresses.

Message from James Evans MS:

NANT MITHEL ENERGY PARK PLANNING PROPOSAL – NOW “LIVE”

Further to our previous correspondence about the proposed Wind Turbines in Brecon & Radnorshire, I have an urgent update concerning Bute Energy’s Nant Mithel Energy Park (Radnor Forest) proposal. This planning application has gone through various rounds of consultation, but it has now reached its final stage and is “live” on the PEDW (Planning Wales) site and open for you to submit comments. This is a tight timeframe, with just 5 weeks to submit your views. Radnor Forest may or may not be your local area, but we must all come together as one on this issue. If this first application gets passed, the others could soon follow.

It is vitally important that everyone, you, your family, friends and neighbours, all submit your views on this planning application.

You need to do this online, direct to PEDW. Link: Reference: CAS-01907-D7Q6Z1 (case is CAS-01907-D7Q6Z1) All comments must be submitted by 23rd December 2025.

You all know I am opposed to these ‘Energy Park’ developments. I believe the cumulative impact of these multiple sites will overwhelm our area, destroy pristine countryside, damage our tourism sector and destroy communities and jobs. I am deeply concerned about the noise impact of the turbines, particularly around infra-sound. There are concerns raised from the NATS (Air Traffic Control) who says the Nant Mithel proposal is unacceptable. We must remember that the 30 turbines being proposed in Radnor Forest are larger than anything currently built in Wales, up to 220m high.

Nant Mithel (Radnor Forest) is the first application, but we know there are others to follow – Aberedw, Bryn Gilwern, Banc y Celyn, Garreg Fawr. The 60-mile distribution route proposed by Green Gen Cymru, likely to be pylons, is being proposed to connect these turbines. Stop the turbines, you stop the need for the distribution line. PEDW will consider the application but the ultimate decision rests with the Welsh Government Minister, currently Rebecca Evans MS.

I am convening a public meeting on

Thursday 4th December at 7pm

The Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells

I have invited the four Regional Senedd Members – Cefin Campbell MS; Jane Dodds MS; Eluned Morgan MS and Joyce Watson MS, along with representatives from Bute Energy, CPRW & ReThink.

I hope you will come along to hear from these representatives.

Together we are stronger and can stand against this exploitation of our area.

Kind regards

James
