Nicely put Cllr Ben Ward - Ingol and Cottam

Since the run up to the elections, Ive been asked so many times - what can you do for us? What have you done? Why should I vote for you? Why are you putting yourself forward?

Lets tackle these points -

I put myself forward because, I am tired of how this country is run. I have no issues with Labour, or the Conservatives, but I do have an issue with the failed promises and the "its one rule for us, and another rule for them" attitude.

Do your job! Do what you said you would do and make a difference for the better, for us, your people. And for me, it got to a point where it felt right... and I know I can make things a little better for the community!

You don't have to vote for me, but please vote. Without your vote, nothing happens and absolutely nothing changes.

I honestly believe that we have to "demand better". This is not just a slogan or a catchy phrase, but it means we need to put people first, we need to listen and try to makes the lives of our communities safer and better.

I am only here today, because Ive stood on the shoulders of giants and the only promise I make is, that i will try my best, with integrity and hard work.

My first impressions of politics... this will have to be on another post, but i will say its eye opening and interesting.

Lets go!!

Have the Lib Dems plateaued? And can a party modelling itself on being sensible grow in 2026 politics?

I was out delivering our latest 'Focus' leaflet this morning in the amazing 🌞 and speaking to some of our residents.

Main issues raised:

The proposed HMO on Sharoe Green Lane - update to follow.
The road surface of St Vincent’s Road - this was raised previously by Fiona Duke Liberal Democrat and was told no, but it will be raised again.
Parking and traffic on Vincent’s Road during the week - we have requested for the local PCSO to monitor this and enforce where needed.
Bins not being collected - this was raised at the last full council meeting, and will be raised again. Residents are asked to report any missed bin online. (If you let me know, I can raise it on your behalf, if anyone is struggling)

♻️ Don’t waste the chance to have your say!

Preston City Council is encouraging residents to take part in a consultation that will help shape Lancashire’s future waste and recycling services.

The Lancashire Waste Partnership is developing a new waste strategy for 2026–2036 and wants to hear your views. The partnership brings together Lancashire County Council, district councils and unitary authorities from across the county to deliver sustainable and effective waste services for local communities.

The proposed strategy, A Low Waste Lancashire, sets out how waste and recycling will be managed, collected and reduced over the next decade, helping to create a cleaner, greener future for everyone.

Your views matter!
âś… Complete the short survey (it takes less than 10 minutes)
âś… Share your feedback on future waste and recycling services
âś… Help shape the final strategy

👉 Follow the link in the comments to take part.

Your responses will help inform the final Waste Strategy, due to be published later in 2026.

The consultation closes on 9 August – don’t bin your opportunity to have your say!
