Cyngor Tref Pwllheli wedi cwblhau ail furlun yn dathlu calon hanesyddol y dref — Harbwr Pwllheli.
Mae’r Cyngor Tref yn falch o gyhoeddi ail waith celf yn y gyfres Camau’r Eliffant — murlun trawiadol sy’n dathlu hanes morol cyfoethog Pwllheli a phwysigrwydd parhaus ei harbwr.
Mae’r murlun, wedi’i baentio gan yr artist clodwiw Andy Dimeone Birch, yn trawsnewid wal amlwg arall yng nghanol y dref yn deyrnged fywiog i’r harbwr sydd wedi siapio hunaniaeth Pwllheli.
Trwy linellau llyfn, manylder dynamig, ac arddull greadigol unigryw Wndy, mae’r gwaith celf yn dal hanfod cymuned sy’n gysylltiedig â’r dŵr.
Wedi’i ariannu drwy’r Gronfa Ffyniant Cyffredin, gyda chefnogaeth amhrisiadwy Cyngor Gwynedd, mae’r prosiect yn parhau i amlygu treftadaeth ddiwylliannol Pwllheli wrth fuddsoddi mewn celf gyhoeddus sy’n gwella golwg y dref.
Bu Harbwr Pwllheli yn gonglfaen i fywyd lleol erioed — unwaith yn ganolfan adeiladu cychod a masnach, yn ddiweddarach yn borthladd pysgota a masnach forol ffyniannus, ac erbyn hyn yn gatiau i hamdden, hwylio a thwristiaeth. Mae’r murlun hwn yn dod y stori honno’n fyw, gan ddangos rôl yr harbwr fel ased hollbwysig i’r dref.
Mae Cyngor Tref Pwllheli yn estyn ei ddiolch diffuant i Andy Dimeone Birch am gyflwyno unwaith eto ddarn pwerus ac wedi creu celf gyhoeddus hyfryd. Mae ei waith eisoes wedi tanio brwdfrydedd ymhlith trigolion ac ymwelwyr, gan gryfhau’r cysylltiad rhwng y gymuned a thirwedd hanesyddol y dref.
Mae’r ail furlun yn adeiladu ar lwyddiant y cyntaf, sy’n cynnwys yr eliffant a’r castell o arfbais y dref, ac yn ffurfio rhan allweddol o brosiect cynyddol Camau’r Eliffant — menter greadigol sydd wedi’i dylunio i ddathlu gorffennol Pwllheli wrth edrych ymlaen yn at ddyfodol hyderus.
Mae’r cynghorwyr yn gobeithio y bydd y gwaith celf ddiweddaraf yma yn ysbrydoli trigolion ac ymwelwyr i fyfyrio ar etifeddiaeth yr harbwr, ei gyfraniad i gymeriad y dref, a’i bwysigrwydd parhaus i fywyd economaidd a diwylliannol Pwllheli.
Pwllheli Town Council unveils second mural celebrating the historic heart of the town — Pwllheli Harbour
The Town Council is delighted to announce the completion of a second major artwork in the Camau’r Eliffant series — a striking new mural celebrating the rich maritime history of Pwllheli and the enduring importance of its harbour.
The mural, painted by acclaimed artist Andy Dimeone Birch, transforms another prominent town‑centre wall into a vibrant tribute to the harbour that shaped Pwllheli’s identity. Through sweeping lines, dynamic detail, and Andy’s distinctive creative style, the artwork captures a community connected to the water.
Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with invaluable support from Gwynedd Council, the project continues to highlight Pwllheli’s cultural heritage while investing in public art that enriches the townscape.
Pwllheli’s harbour has long been a cornerstone of local life — once a hub of shipbuilding and commerce, later a thriving centre for fishing and maritime trade, and today a gateway for leisure, sailing, and tourism. This mural brings that story to life, illustrating the harbour’s role as a vital asset to the town.
Pwllheli Town Council extends its heartfelt thanks to Andy Dimeone Birch for once again delivering a powerful and beautifully crafted piece of public art. His work has already sparked enthusiasm among residents and visitors, further strengthening the connection between the community and the town’s historic landscape.
This second mural builds on the success of the first, featuring the elephant and castle from the town’s coat of arms, and forms a key part of the growing Camau’r Eliffant project — a creative initiative designed to celebrate Pwllheli’s past while looking confidently to its future.
Councillors hope that this latest artwork will encourage residents and visitors to reflect on the harbour’s legacy, its contribution to Pwllheli’s character, and its continuing importance to economic and cultural life.
