👉 I’m really concerned by the lack of clear policy around cake sheds and other micro businesses in our district.

These are small, community-focused businesses run by local people—yet uncertainty from the council is leaving owners worried about whether they can continue trading.

Micro businesses deserve clarity, consistency and support—not confusion.

Bassetlaw needs a clear and proportionate policy that backs local enterprise and gives small businesses the confidence to keep going.

Just thought I’d leave this here in case I forgot to post it (I’ve a busy week coming up). Please manifest with me. We need the council to say we’re exempt or it doesn’t apply to us anymore or something along those lines. Otherwise it’s a “Goodbye from me”. My only option would be click and collect and I just don’t think that’s what people *really want. It’s not what I want tbh. I just want to carry on doing what I’m doing!! So let’s get manifesting 🙏🪄🦄🧞‍♂️

Everyone will have seen the energy cap increase 🤔

Given the proposed growth in my ward - why are residents burdened with massive increases in energy costs - while hosting some of the highest proportion of solar farms, battery storage and renewables, when compared to other areas in the country.

Complete shambles - Ed’s Renewable Energy Purge is costing us too much.

The CAP 👇

Energy regulator Ofgem has today (Wednesday 27 May) announced a 13% increase of the energy price cap for the period covering 1 July to 30 September 2026. The price cap refers to the default tariff applied when a customer has not signed for a fixed-rate tariff.

British households and businesses are being crushed by among the highest energy costs in the world - driven by bad ideological policy.

Reform UK will prioritise energy security, expand domestic energy production, and scrap policies that drive bills higher while making Britain more dependent on foreign energy.

Lower energy costs mean lower prices, higher wages, and a stronger economy.

Micro Business Matters

The UK doesn’t seem to be a place where small business matters. Let’s support our Micro Businesses.

Work carried out as part of a joint Heritage Construction Skills Project involving Bassetlaw District Council has helped to preserve three valued historic buildings.

For the second year, the council teamed up with Pinnacle Conservation to deliver free foundation classes in practical skills including stone masonry, joinery and lime plastering/pointing.
