Shocking. Victims of grooming gangs deserve justice and answers but Lib Dem MP, Clive Jones, failed to vote for a full inquiry into these horrific crimes.

Communities deserve transparency, action, and accountability. It’s time to demand better. Stand with us to ensure this issue is not ignored—join the call for a full inquiry today.

On Friday evening we selected Lucy Demery as Wokingham Conservatives’ Parliamentary candidate.
She is part of a new generation of Conservatives stepping forward to offer a bright new future for Wokingham and our country.

LibDem run Wokingham Borough Council keep saying that they get little money from central government.

But what is the true story?

The biggest sum of money they never mention is the £168 million to run our schools.

Education is around half of the Council's annual spend and all the main costs are covered by government grant.

Why do they forget this?

The funding this year is up by more than 7% on last year.

There is an additional £4.5 million of additional grant.

£1.5 million to cover extra pay rises for teachers.

And an extra £500k to cover additional pension contributions.

Wokingham will also receive a general pupil premium of £4 million.

And there is an extra £1 million for sports.

There is a grant of £2.4 million to cover the costs of free meals for infants.

There is £510k for the National Tutoring programme.

There are payments for the Coronavirus recovery programme of £816k.

There is also £10.8 million of capital money for schools, to improve and expand buildings.

It would be helpful to hear a bit more on how the LibDem run Council is spending our money.

And some recognition of the substantial sums of money actually received from the Conservative Government.

Why won’t LibDem run Wokingham Borough take pride in our neighbourhood?

Across the constituency you can see the neglect and damage being done to our environment by the Council.

At Shute End, there were cobwebs over the main entrance to the Borough offices. On the lefthand side glass there are two side remnants of some red poster sticking to the window where most of the poster has been ripped off. The garden borders are overgrown with weeds in front of the buildings.

On our roads, there are countless yellow diversion signs, some badly positioned. Few tell us where they were diverting you from or to. The one by the Woosehill roundabout is partly missing and hanging off a rusty metal frame at a lopsided angle.

At California Crossroads, the contractors are installing expensive yellow bricks, which will doubtless shift position and discolour badly where cars are driven over them. Clearly the Lib Dems want to paint the Borough yellow in as many ways as possible.

We must not let them!

Several pavements where the hedgerows overhang have not been clipped back.

Road drains are blocked causing excessive water across roads when it rains.

Grass goes unmowed.

The potholes grow and grow.

Why will the Council not take a pride in our place?

Why will they not carry out proper maintenance?
