Happy parkrun day .

This weekend will see parkrun’s 1 millionth event worldwide - it all started in 2004 where 18 people turned up at Bushy Park.

Fast forward to today, and parkrun is a UK-based global charity working to create a healthier, happier planet, with over 12 million registrations and more than 2,800 events in 23 countries.

And after hosting nearly a million events, one thing is very clear: it’s the people who make parkrun so special. So as we celebrate this incredible moment, we’re really celebrating the millions of people in our brilliant, diverse and supportive community.

To think this all started back in 2004

Exactly 13 runners participated in the very first event, originally known as the Bushy Park Time Trial, held on October 2, 2004. This initial gathering in Teddington, London, was organized by Paul Sinton-Hewitt and supported by 5 volunteers

How did we get to 1 million parkrun events? 🤔

It didn’t happen overnight.

One million parkrun events. Sounds crazy, right? 🤯

This weekend we’ll hit that incredible milestone. If you would like to , we would love to see you in your apricot and milestone T-shirts at this weeks run.

A million events delivered shows parkrun is more than a 5k or 2k. It’s shared mornings, encouragement, and a community that turns up week after week.
