SO sad to be saying its our last baby cafe breastfeeding support session next wednesday 10th July at Dovers Green Childrens Centre.

The time has come.. I left it as long as I could so that I could give you information that we currently have about our future.

For this moment in time we are having to close our doors... 😥 Our last session will be next weds the 10th of July, We would like to warmly invite you all, past and present to join us in saying thank you and goodbye, we will be having a little party with loads of cake!

Our Cafe has been open for 11 years, we have supported thousands of mothers and families in that time, many of whom have loved Babycafe so much, they have trained with us to become peer supporters and join us every weds to look after you!

We wouldn't have been able to continue for all this time without you wonderful peer supporters , you are all truly wonderful and we will be forever grateful for your time, your knowledge and kindness.

The Children’s centre managers who have not only supported us with venues and funding, but their kindness in supporting us every week, we are going to miss working with the outreach workers every week, from Stepping stones, RedOak, Wellcare and DoversGreen.

And the Health visitors and Nursery nurses from First community Health, there as a safety net for families, dealing with everything from weight, tongue ties, sleep to teething!

We will really miss working with you. ❤️

From the thousands of visits we have had many conversations with many women, many of whom have become friends, spending time drinking tea.. eating cake, laughing, crying talking everything from Breastfeeding to college applications!

I have been privileged to be with you as your breastfeeding Counsellor for so long, and it is really hard to say goodbye... so instead I will say thank you... thank you for allowing me to instead of changing the world. .. Just changing that little bit around me. 💗

For information about our future...

We don't really know yet what is happening with the other Baby cafes as information is changing all the time... however Redhill Baby Cafe is hoping to come back stronger in September, we are hoping to secure our venue at The Harliquin in Redhill not sure what day or time as yet ( keep an eye on this page.. I will tell you when I know more!) You will be looked after by the Loveky Breastfeeding counsellor, Katherine Saunders who currently looks after Caterham Baby Cafe, we will still be supported by the wonderful Health team, and our amazing team of Peer supporters!

For the last 11 years we have been open over the summer to give support.. I apologise for not being able to do that this year. With that in mind I have included lots of numbers and information below.

I will still be maintaing this page and posting information as normal, the message facility above will still be open and will be answered if you have questions or worrys.x

So Thank you.... and Good Bye...💗💗💗

Chevonne and the team at Reigate Babycafe.###x

It’s important to keep your baby cool when you’re out and about. Attach a clip-on sunshade to the pram to keep your baby out of direct sunlight and monitor their temperature by feeling their tummy or the back of their neck.

Prams and buggies should not be covered with blankets, cloths or any cover that prevents the air from circulating. Covering a pram or buggy with a blanket could lead to overheating, which increases the chance of SIDS.

PHE news - Parents encouraged to be aware of scarlet fever symptoms

Some really useful advice here.

It might not be summer yet, but there are lots of fun family events already starting to happen.. 🌞

If you're taking the little ones to any crowded events, here are our top tips on how you can #KeepKidsSafe in crowds:

🖊 Make sure they have your number on them, whether it’s written on their arm, on a piece of paper in their pocket, shoe, or on a wristband.

📸 Use your phone to take a photo of your child before you go to any event. This will help you remember their clothing, as well as giving you having access to an up to date photo in case of emergencies. You can make this more fun for them by taking a family photo with everyone pulling funny faces.

📱 Teach your child your phone number, you can try and make this a bit easier by turning it into a song.

🤝 Remind your child about staying together, and talk about what to do if you can’t find each other.

👮‍♂️ When you go to any event, identify a safe place to meet up if needed, and identify emergency services staff or security so your child knows who to go to for help.

👨‍👨‍👧‍👦Make sure your child knows your name, this will help them give it to someone in an emergency, rather than calling you ‘Mummy’ or ‘Daddy’.

👂Remind your child to listen out for their name being called for example over a loud speaker system.

#CommunityMatters to us, and we want you to have a great time, so please stay safe and have fun.

Parents will be notified later today of your school place allocation. If however, your child does not get their preferred school place DON’T PANIC! Here are a few tips, but there is always a lot of movement between now and September.
*Take the place they have been allocated anyway. You may well be able to apply to an alternative school over the coming months, but if the initial offer is not accepted, there’s a chance that your child won’t have any school to attend come September.
*Write a list of other preferred schools and attempt to get onto their waiting lists – this can even be schools to which you did not originally apply. There is a big shake up between now and the beginning of the new academic year and some places do come up.
*Have a closer look at the school your child has been allocated. There’s a chance that you have been making a judgement based on out of date information. When was the most recent OFSTED inspection? Contact the Headteacher next week when the summer term begins and go and have a chat.
*Don't let your children see your fears about the school. If you’re negative about the school but then fail to find another one, your child may start at the new school feeling anxious.
*If you feel you have no choice but to appeal, you must remember that you can only appeal to the schools to which you previously applied. Each school will require a separate appeal. The grounds for a legitimate appeal will be published on Surrey County Council’s website.
*If you still need guidance and advice, The Good Schools Guide offers a telephone consultation with a school appeals expert who will listen to your particular circumstances, suggest ways of approaching your appeal, give advice on dos and don’ts and tell you what your chances of success are.
Remember - School are currently closed for Easter, and re-open on Tuesday 23rd April.
