This beautiful rabbit was found in distress.

He had huge bite marks over his hind quarters resulting in a catastrophic spinal injury.

Sadly, even being a stones throw away from where he was found, he died on route as we rushed him to the vets.

We would like to thank his finders for doing everything possible to try and help. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿชฝ

โš ๏ธโ˜ ๏ธ Poisoning in Reigate โ˜ ๏ธโš ๏ธ

Our 4th call of the morning was to a collapsed fox cub that had been found on Reigate High Street.

Thankfully she was picked up by a lovely member of the public and taken out of the heat and sun as by 8am it was already so hot.

Upon arrival we assessed the cub and immediately found that she was showing advanced signs of poisoning.
She was in so much pain her little legs were locked ridged and any movement was absolute agony for her.

There is no cure for poisoning once it's in their system. ๐Ÿ’”

We rushed her to one of our amazing vets just a mile away where they quickly jumped into action to peacefully put this little baby to sleep.

This little fox cub was just starting her life, otherwise perfectly healthy and growing beautifully.

Poisoning is a slow and extremely painful death.
It can take up to 10 days to finally kill its victim, as the organs fail and are slowly dissolved to liquid while they are still alive.

Please do not use poison.
It's inhumane, indiscriminate and doesn't kill only the target species, it carries on killing up the food chain, including pets like dogs and cats if they were to pick up a poisoned rat or mouse.

She did not deserve to die. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ญ

People of Reigate, please keep a look out for more cubs and adult foxes in the area.
We are unsure if this little one picked up the poison herself as she was old enough to start wandering about a little on her own or if a parent has unknowingly brought it back to the den. There could be more cubs and foxes suffering the same fate ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ™

The signs of poisoning are the same for all animals.
If you think your dog or cat has been poisoned you need to rush them to your nearest vet as a matter of urgency! If in any doubt whatsoever take them anyway!

Although it can take up to 10 days or more to kill, organ damage is being done from day 1 so it is time critical ๐Ÿ™

Rest in peace now little one

๐Ÿ“ž We are incredibly busy with bird rescues currently. โš ๏ธ

If you can't get through straight away due to us being on another call or attending a rescue, please send us a whatsapp message to our rescue number with:

โ€ขA picture of the animal concerned ๐Ÿ“ท
โ€ข Your full name โœ๏ธ
โ€ข Your full address๐Ÿก
โ€ข Your contact number๐Ÿ“ž

If it's a bird that's feathered, please contact us first before taking action. ๐Ÿฆ

If it's a bird that's naked and/or has eyes shut and you are unable to place it safely back in the nest, please scoop up to safety.๐Ÿฃ

If any animals are in immediate danger, eg: in the road, out in the open, in full sun and exposed or are clearly injured or unwell please rescue scoop and bring inside if safe to do so!

Please do not attempt this with large animals unless experienced ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™‚

Also please do not attempt to feed or water any wildlife casualty or orphan.
Your kindest can kill ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™‚

We are doing our very best to get to everyone in a timely manner however for the welfare of the animals, as it's so hot in the car, we are having to drop off each patient back at base, so it's taking a little longer than normal today

Please bear with us and thank you!

Big shout out to Amy who owns Buckland Deli & Gifts

We very rarely get regular meals lately as we are so busy, we have to eat as we drive and have been living on soggy petrol station sandwiches and ping meals ! ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคฎ

BUT NOT TODAY!! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™๐Ÿซถ

And as we were passing we just had to fly in for a quick pit stop!

Thank you Amy for our lunch today and for making it so quick as the calls kept coming in! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿฉท

Pictured is their (not so) "small" ๐Ÿ˜ณ cheese ploughman's baguette. It's easily over a foot long and stuffed to the rafters!!

Ross had a ham and mustard baguette but he got stuck into it in so quickly I couldn't get a picture plus we had to hit the road again! Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

Freshly baked baguettes and each made to order, they are SO good !! Plus there is a beautiful garden for customers that have more time to sit and enjoy.

Thank you Amy for keeping us rescuers fed and energised on the road today !!
They were delicious as always!๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™๐Ÿซถ

In this hot weather please leave out fresh water in a variety of bowls with different depths. Pebbles in a shallow dish for our insect friends and tiny mammals. Shallow for our hedgehogs.
Keep checking and refilling. They need all the help they can get. ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ”๐Ÿฆก Thank you.

'Every life matters'

Another super busy day but this one just stood out for us...

This poor squab was found by a young lad who immediately knew something was very very wrong and took the initiative to scoop this very young pigeon up to safety and bring her home to get urgent help.

No one knew exactly what had happened to her but on arrival it was clear she was in an extremely bad way.

Her upper mandible (or the top half of her tiny beak) had been completely torn off, the top of her head scalped down to the skull and major damage to the back of her neck and crop.

She was in immense pain. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿฅบ

These injuries are not survivable and sadly all we could do is rush her to the vet to be put to sleep as she was still very much alive and aware of her situation.

We would just like to thank this amazing young man for going above and beyond for this tiny little soul.

It was obviously not the outcome that any of us would have hoped for, for such a young wild baby that had barely started her life, however, to step up and try to help and ultimately end such horrendous suffering is still something to be incredibly proud of.

Well done and thank you for your kindness,
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’š
