An update on Upnor Castle’s opening times.

English Heritage have now assumed management of Upnor Castle.

The site will be open for tours on the last Sunday of every month, bookable via the English Heritage website.

Bookable tours will be available from Sunday, 31 May 2026.

The English Heritage team will be hosting a community open morning on Saturday, 13 June, 11am-1pm.

Please note, there will be an additional charge to have a go at striking a coin.

Busy sorting my stuff for Rochester Castle next weekend, nice to be indoors for a change so no concerns about the weather, it also means I can bring out all my shiny things 😊

It's 1989 and our manager is 7 years old. She is part of the Sweeps procession with the rest of her school friends, they're all dressed as chimney sweeps and are enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival. They eat their lunch on the bandstand in Rochester Castle Gardens and if they're quick, they can have a peep inside that huge Castle in front of them. The same Norman arches that wowed that 7 year old still wow her today. Do you remember your first visit to Rochester Castle?
