Our newly elected Reform Councillors were in Rugby Town Hall yesterday for their first Annual Full Council meeting.
Reform UK Rugby proposed an amendment ahead of Full Council to nominate an alternative for the position of Mayor. This amendment was not heard in the chamber, and there was much
scolding and derision from the opposite benches when our Councillors dared to request a named count of the vote.
The position of Mayor had long ago been decided, well ahead of the ceremonials, in a closed door agreement between the established parties,
and prior to there being any Reform members on the council.
During the Borough Election campaign Reform UK Rugby pledged to the electorate that we would bring accountability and transparency to Council. We will not be quiet, or bullied into silence all in the name of maintaining the status quo. Nearly ten and half thousand people in Rugby voted for Reform on May 7th with Reform UK receiving the highest total vote share and we will endeavour to give you all a voice in the coming year.
