Our Summer Reading Challenge kids session tomorrow (Thursday 20th) 2.30-4.00 is an Art competition with a super artists set for the winner. The theme will be musicians. Younger children will have pictures to colour in.
So far our visitors have made Fairy Crowns, Musical instruments, Rag Wreaths, Farm animal puppets, Pets cookies and PomPom pets and still more to come. Friday of course will be our regular Lego afternoon and on Monday, (1.30-3.30) Upper Moreton Rural Activities will be back to show you how to look after the bugs 🐛🐜🐝🪲🐞🦗🕷🪳 in your garden and doing some clay pressings.

We have a very sad dinosaur who was left behind in Brereton Library last Tuesday (11th August) .
He has been waiting patiently to be taken home so if he belongs to you, please come and pick him up as he’s missing his family.
Please pop in as soon as possible and take him home.

Today our young crafters made guitars, drums, jingle sticks and maracas to help them read to the beat. This will sound as one of their challenges in this year's Summer Reading Challenge. Don't forget to come and claim your rewards when they have completed their six challenges.

85 of these registered at Brereton Community Library but so far only 16 have completed the challenge. If your children started the challenge, don't forget to chivvy them on to get reading and to come and tell us so that we can prepare their rewards.

Nearly 8,000 children have already signed up to the Summer Reading Challenge 📚🎶

And we’re only four weeks in…

This year’s theme is Read to the Beat, and young readers across are getting stuck into books, audiobooks and eBooks — all while collecting rewards along the way 🎧

Our libraries are also packed with events and activities, giving families even more reasons to pop in this summer.

There’s still time to join in, and it’s completely free.

This Thursday 13th Upper Moreton Rural Activities will be visiting to tell you how to look after your pets and weather permitting will be bringing some of their tortoises with them to enjoy their usual tropical conditions

Everyone had a great time today when our fellow Rotarians from Upper Moreton Rural Activities came to entertain our Summer Reading Challengers. They taught them about farm animals and had them making sock puppets of farm animals which they then used to help tell some stories. A big thank you to Carol and her team. A big thank you to everyone who came to enjoy Cannock Chase Can fun day today, especially those of you who rolled your sleeves up to help us including Peter, Poppy, Sophie, Joeanne and others when we were stretched!. Thank you also to Lisa and all of her team for bringing the event to our lovely library and our great team of volunteers who rose to the challenge. It was an amazing day that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone as we think you will see from our pictures.
