Flying the Flag for Our Armed Forces! 🪖⚓✈️

Yesterday, personnel from RAF Northolt gathered in Uxbridge for a flag-raising ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week, paying tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces keeping the UK secure.

Here’s some more imagery from our annual Friends and Families Day. The event was busier than ever this year, helping to bring the RAF Northolt community together!

Aircraft such as the A400M, Hurricane, Spitfire and the Envoy were all out for everyone to have a look around aswell as representatives from different sections around the Station.

Following a very productive 6 months as Deputy Station Warrant Officer (DSWO), FS Isla has handed over the role to FS JC. The DSWO position is an RAF Northolt initiative which offers excellent experience and opportunities for a flight sergeant or warrant officer to work alongside the Station Executive Team as well as providing vital support to the SWO. We thank FS Isla for her hard work and dedication in the role and wish FS JC every success as he takes on the position. 👏🌟

Isla said: “The DSWO role strengthens continuity, resilience, and leadership across the Station. It provides valuable exposure to senior leadership, operational delivery, and Station-wide responsibilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the role and the opportunity gained to support progression”. The inaugural Regional Games has been held at RAF Northolt which saw teams from all four stations within the Southeast region – Halton, Henlow, High Wycombe and Northolt – come together to undertake a range of physical and mental challenges to win the coveted plaque. Teams (military and Civil Service) completed a range of timed activities including the Target Sprint, an indoor air rifle range which gave the opportunity for individuals to practice skill and accuracy.

The purpose of the event was to develop regional cohesion and get together in a sports and social environment for some healthy competition followed by pizza and presentations. Our thanks to everyone who took part and especially those who made this possible from the gym, No 1 AIDU, RAF Halton and the Royal Air Force Small Arms Association. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. 💪👏

Today, as we remember the Iraq War 15 years on, the Ruislip Branch of the RBL held its own commemoration.

Representing RAF Northolt was Station Commander, Group Captain Wales who, together with the new Mayor of Hillingdon Councillor Reeta Chamdal plus other guests and local community, paid their respects at the Ruislip War Memorial.

A plethora of people put it all together each year including many team Northolt personnel, King’s Colour Squadron, RAF Music and local Air Cadets to name a few.

Then of course the guests, both civilian and military, such as senior figures of partner Nations and our veteran community who come to pay their respects. A huge thanks to all.
