This National Estates & Facilities Day we’re celebrating the people who keep our hospitals running and sharing just a few of their stories 💙

At Salford Royal, porters like Lisa and James help keep everything moving. Each day, they complete up to 25 patient moves, walking thousands of steps to ensure patients get where they need to be safely and on time.

Our Medical Device Services (MDS) teams maintain, repair and manage thousands of vital devices from infusion pumps to monitors ensuring they’re safe, compliant and ready to use.

From the colleagues preparing thousands of meals, to those washing and pressing linen, maintaining clean environments, transporting patients and supplies, and keeping our buildings running – every role matters.

Together, more than 1,500 dedicated colleagues work tirelessly, often unseen, delivering essential services every single day of the year.

Across the Northern Care Alliance, our teams of dietitians and support workers are highly skilled professionals who care, listen, support and guide every day. Their approach is empathetic, practical and evidence‑based, making a real difference across our hospitals and community services.

Within our Eating Disorder service, multidisciplinary team discussions are at the heart of patient-centred care — enabling collaborative decision-making and ensuring patients receive consistent, well-supported treatment during what can be a very challenging time.

May was another exceptionally busy month for recruitment across the Northern Care Alliance, with strong application volumes, high candidate engagement and positive experiences reported by new starters! 👏

✅ 6,193 job applications were received across 530 advertised vacancies.
📩 We made 473 job offers.
⭐ 92% of new starters rated their recruitment experience as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’.
🧑‍⚕️Nursing and Midwifery had the largest professional intake during the month.
💬 One of our successful candidates described the recruitment team as “supportive, helpful and communicated clearly throughout the process’
