Scott Elliott was a firefighter at Sandy for 20 years and left Sandy Fire Station a couple of years ago to focus on his career with London Fire Brigade.
Scott is running this years London Marathon. We wish him well (as he is on the old side and his knees aren't what they used to be), but if anyone would like to donate to his fundraising page, the link is below and it would be great if we can assist him in getting to his total! Good luck Scott!!

We raised a massive £643 plus Gift Aid where applicable which should make close to £750 for the Fire Fighters Charity. Our thanks also to Bedfordshire Fire Cadets and Airfield Volunteer Fire Service Charity Shuttleworth for their valuable assistance too.

Just one more day to wait to bring your car, van or any other vehicle to Sandy Fire Station this Saturday 21st March between 10am and 2pm and let your local team of friendly firefighters and Fire Cadets give your vehicle its annual wash? Our thanks go to Autoglym for their support in providing car shampoo for the event.

Any donation gratefully received with all proceeds going Fire Fighters Charity and we'll also have the fire engine available for anyone that wants to look around it, and there will also be the opportunity to talk to the crew about any fire safety questions you have or book one of our Home Fire Safety Visits.

We can't wait to see you all this weekend!

Over the last few months the crew from Sandy Fire Station have been in collaboration with their blue light partners from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust. The crew have now completed their intense training and are now attending medical incidents in Sandy and the local community as part of an Emergency Medical Response/Co Responding Team.

This new collaborative working went live on the 7th November 2025 and in its infancy has had a great success story in its first week after coming across a motorcycle accident on their way back from another incident , being the first on scene, requesting the attendance of other blue light partners whilst dealing with the motorcyclist who suffered concussion and some minor injuries and now recovering well at home. All the training that the crew has taken on board certainly assisted them.

This successful scheme has now been rolled out from four fire stations across Bedfordshire and has shown to be a huge benefit to the communities that we serve. An amazing collaboration amongst the blue light family 🚒🚑.

Thanks to everyone that attended our annual Open Day today - it was really good to see so many of you turn out to support us and the weather did us proud again!

We're still counting up how much was raised for the Fire Fighters Charity and will let you know how we did, but hope you all had a good time.

Our thanks also to Drone Photos Sandy for some excellent images which we will share some more video over the coming days and to our colleagues, our cadets, Airfield Volunteer Fire Service Charity, and other friends and supporters who assisted throughout the day.

Also, to all of the local businesses that contributed prizes to our raffle - your support is really appreciated 👏.
