Good evening everyone. A further sink hole update for you all.

There is another late night of works planned tonight to fix the sink hole. We believe residents in the locale of the works will be informed.

We understand that United Utilities are extending the work area however this will not be beyond the fenced site so the carpark will still be operational.

We thank you for you patience and understanding whilst work continues.

This post is for information only and comments will be turned off.

Have a great evening.

Good morning everyone. We have a sink hole update for you all.

United Utilities were onsite last night working on the sink hole. We believe that they did speak with residents in the vicinity to let them know they would be working on it.

We believe it may take most of the week to complete the works. As I receive more information, I will keep you all updated. Again, thank you for your patience whilst these works are being carried out.

Have a great day.

Councillor Zöe O’Hanlon

Good evening all, hope you have enjoyed the light works festival and all the other festivities happening in the village this weekend.

With regards to the sink hole in the shorefront carpark. We have an update from United Utilities. We believe the hole has been caused by a burst outflow pipe and councillors and United Utilities, along with the police and highways have been on scene throughout the day. The car park is currently closed. We have been advised that United Utilities will be clearing up the area and fencing off in the vicinity where the sink hole is over the course of tonight. This will hopefully allow the carpark to be reopened for tomorrow morning all being well. United utilities will then endeavour to make their repairs as soon as is possible following necessary assessments. We thank you for your patience whilst the car park is closed and will keep you informed of any updates as we are given more information and advice.

This post is for information only and comments will be turned off.

Have a great evening and enjoy the remainder of the events tonight.

Councillor Zöe O’Hanlon.

News today that there will be a bus starting in December that runs Whitehaven to Ravenglass and Ravenglass to Millom. The full route hasn't been confirmed yet, so watch this space. 🚍 Jane Coltman

🚌 Cumberland Go: connecting communities, one journey at a time. 🚌

Cumberland Council is excited to launch Cumberland Go — a new, community-focused public transport brand — bringing more bus routes, better connections, and greener travel options across our region! 🌿

Backed by £3.55 million in government funding, the initiative introduces a phased rollout of new and improved subsidised bus services starting this November.

✅ What’s happening:

Beginning 3 November 2025, Phase 1 will see new and enhanced services delivered by Reays and Stagecoach, including:

🚍 Maryport – Dearham Town ( )
🚍 Cockermouth – Maryport ( #68)
🚍 Workington – Carlisle ( #300)
🚍 Cleator Moor – West Cumberland Hospital ( #22)
🚍 Millom Town Service ( & #7)
…and more!

📅 Phase 2 launches 1 December 2025 – expanding routes across Carlisle, Anthorn, Wigton, Whitehaven, St Bees, Egremont, and Barrow.

📅 Phase 3 launches 5 January 2026 – connecting communities with Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland Hospital, Hadrian’s Wall, and local health centres.

These routes are vital for accessing work, education, healthcare, and leisure, giving people across Cumberland real alternatives to car travel while supporting a cleaner, healthier, and more connected future.

Find out more about Cumberland Go in the press release in the comments section or call the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736.

Let’s get Cumberland moving — together!

Good evening all, Councillor O’Hanlon here. I very much apologise for the very late update, however…under advisement, a decision was made to defer the meeting until next Wednesday, the 15th October, to ensure the meeting was lawfully convened. I offered to let you all know and this offer was accepted. The notice will be posted into the notice board by one of our councillors, in good time in order to comply with the law and it is hoped that you will still be able to attend.

I will personally be there tomorrow evening to inform anyone who misses this post or indeed the notice on the board, of this update. For myself, I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you will understand the reasons for the rearrangement. I have included a copy of the agenda below as posted on the official Parish Council website.

Again, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I will also share this post to G&S matters and Seascale Beach page, however if you do know anyone who likes to attend the meetings but isn’t on social media, I would be grateful if you could pass this information along. Thanks so much.

Cllr Zöe O’Hanlon

Exciting event for the village. We look forward to welcoming Everyone Here back in December.
