BREAKING: Private security patrols launched to protect Essex residents from Reform councillors.

Private security patrols are now underway in towns and cities across Essex to protect local residents from elected representatives of Reform UK.

Operation Sh*tehawk officers won’t have the same powers as police officers, but they will be able to loudly scream ‘bollocks’ into a megaphone every time a town or county councillor is heard making a promise that relates to a topic outside of their personal remit, such as ‘stopping boats’ as opposed to bins or hanging flower baskets.

🗳️ Who gets to decide if you are “good enough” to vote?

Reform UK wants polling station officials to have the power to withhold a ballot if they believe a voter doesn’t understand the voting process or the language being used. Reform MP Danny Kruger will add it as a proposed amendment to a government bill.

Just think about what that means…

A British citizen turns up to vote and an official can effectively say: I don’t think you understand enough to have a vote.

🤔 Who decides what “good enough” means?

🤔 What test would they use?

🤔 And what happens when the definition changes?

Today it’s language.

Tomorrow, where does it end?

This is the thin end of a very dangerous wedge.

You might think it’s fine because you speak perfect English.

But democratic rights shouldn’t depend on whether someone in a polling station decides you have the right background, qualifications or ability to exercise them.

🗳️ The right to vote belongs to citizens. It shouldn’t be conditional on passing a test designed by politicians.

Reform calls this “saving democracy”.

But removing democratic rights from people because someone else decides they aren’t sufficiently capable of voting is a profoundly serious step.

⚠️ You might think it’s someone else’s rights today.

But what happens when they come for yours?
