Hi everyone. If anyone is interested there is an orchard pruning session in Beighton Orchard (not Heathlands Orchard) on Sunday, Jan 11 from 10 am to 1 pm. It appears to be a free event: they want to know who's wanting to attend. Thanks.

Join the Edible Tree Network (ETN) and Sheffield City Council's Community Forestry team to look after Sheffield's Orchards this winter.

Heathlands Park Maintenance
From Wed 1st October, a new crushed stone path is being laid between the picnic bench and the Viper Swing. Also the Viper Swing needs some repairs.
Thank you.

Hello everyone. We hope you are enjoying Heathlands Park during the Summer months. The maintenance department at Sheffield City Council are trying to keep our park looking nice and tidy. They are in the process of tidying the willow hedge that surrounds the children's play area.
Please remember to dial 101 if you witness any vandalism or antisocial behaviour in the park.

Would you like to be more involved as a volunteer for Friends of Heathlands Park?

Sheffield City Council have been working with this Friends Group, from the time when the Park was first designed and constructed in 2011, right up until the most recent improvements in April 2025. Volunteering isn't a big commitment - you could be using a bit of your time to help keep the park looking as nice as it does today, as well as look to see what else could be done to make the park better for the community.

In the past the Friends Group have had people help with volunteer days where we've planted various types of plants, tidied up seating areas, tidied the Orchard, done litter picks, organised walks in the local area that are of interest to children (e.g. bat walks), organised events in the football pitch. In particular if you have children of your own who use the Park then you might have already had ideas about improving the Park

If you want to find out more about volunteering then please contact us, preferably by direct message in Facebook or by email: [email protected].

Important Update: there is still some play equipment that is fenced off, waiting for safety approval. Thanks for your patience.

Hi all,

For anyone who hasn’t had chance to get to Heathlands Park recently the works are coming along really well.

The vast majority of the works should be complete by next Wednesday (2nd April) for when our independent play inspector will attend site and check that the play equipment has been installed correctly/to the correct British Standards. If he approves we will be able to open up the site. If he raises any issues it may be that an item/items of equipment have to be kept fenced off until our Playgrounds Team visit and assess the problem.

Please note: when the areas are opened the newly seeded areas may get a bit muddy (because the seed has recently been put down and hasn’t had chance to establish) and may also require a further seed. We will be assessing this with Horticon and taking any action needed.

Friends will be co-ordinating a celebration event- a date will be circulated.

Thanks
Heathlands Park Project Manager
