Trees planted along Upper Shoreham Road last winter are beginning to really look at home, bringing an added burst of colour and life to the stretch of road. 🌳

In total, 14 trees were planted by our parks team along the grass verge east of Southlands Hospital, including species such as cherry, pear and maple. Each tree is at least five years old, providing an immediate visual and environmental impact.

Alongside their visual appeal, trees improve local air quality, help regulate the water cycle, and provide valuable food and shelter for wildlife. They are a key part of our Vision for Nature, which sets out projects and ambitions to protect and restore the area's natural environment – from the South Downs to the coast.

Most of the trees were funded through donations inspired by last year’s Tree Festival, a Sussex-wide celebration of the immense value of trees.

The planting forms part of our commitment to create a greener district for all, helping to enhance local streets while supporting nature and biodiversity.

We’re pleased to see the new trees already benefiting the area and look forward to watching them grow and flourish for many years to come.

It’s great that so many people are so passionate about how we can all work together to make Lancing even better for everyone.

Our team will be in the reception of Lancing Parish Hall in South Street from 9.30am to midday tomorrow to get feedback on our North Road consultation. If you’re in the area, please drop in and tell us what you think.

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll also be at Co-op, Lancing Station and Lancing Beach Green, or you can give your thoughts online at https://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/lancing-village-centre/.

We'd like your thoughts on revised plans to improve the centre of Lancing’s shopping area, after we received feedback from hundreds of local people.

For the last two years, we've been working with officers at West Sussex County Council on proposals to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds in North Road to help regenerate the area.

Designs have been drawn up for the closure of the North Farm Road junction and its replacement with a pocket park featuring trees and planting to make the area greener and more attractive for the community.

Residents and businesses have told us they'd like improved lighting at the junction as well as additional seating, so this has been taken on board.

We're running drop-in sessions during June where you can have your say on the updated plans. They will take place at Lancing Parish Council and in South Street on 12th June, in Queens Parade and at Lancing Station on 16th June, and at Lancing Beach Green on 23rd June.

You can also comment online by visiting www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/lancing-village-centre/ -steps. The latest consultation runs until Sunday 19th July.

We’ll be undertaking some essential maintenance at Kingston Beach car park in Shoreham next week to improve its usability for visitors.

On Wednesday 17th June contractors will be levelling the surface of the car park with heavy machinery. We’re afraid this means no parking will be available on this day.

On Thursday 18th and Friday 19th June, works will continue at the southern edge of the site to complete drainage improvements. The car park will be open again, but there may be a few less spaces available while the work is completed.

We apologise for any inconvenience and will update you here once the car park has been reopened to the public.
