What matters most to you when it comes to keeping your community safe?

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service does much more than respond to fires. We help prevent emergencies, protect people and businesses, and prepare for a wide range of risks across Lancashire.

Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out how we’ll help keep Lancashire safer over the next five years.

Earlier this year, we asked what matters most to our communities, and your feedback helped shape our draft plan.

Now, we want to hear what you think about the risks we’ve identified and how we plan to prevent and respond to them.

As we move into the second phase of our consultation, we'd like to hear your views on the community risks we've identified and how we intend to prevent and respond to them.

Are you aged 13–18 and looking for a new challenge?

Our Fire Cadets programme is recruiting, and there are just a few places left at our Skelmersdale unit to start in September 2026.

When: Tuesdays
Time: 5pm–7pm

As a Fire Cadet, you'll:
• Wear an official cadet uniform and experience what it's like to be part of the fire service
• Build confidence through teamwork, leadership and communication
• Learn firefighting skills and the basics of emergency response
• Represent Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service at community events
• Be supported and mentored by firefighters
• Make a positive difference in your local community

Station Manager Maguire gives an update on the incident on Rainford Road, Bickerstaffe.

Six fire engines are currently in attendance at a commercial building fire on Rainford Road, Bickerstaffe, Ormskirk.

If you can see or smell smoke, keep your windows and doors shut.
We also ask people to avoid the area, where possible.

Lancashire is currently experiencing a heatwave and while many people will be looking forward to making the most of it, higher temperatures also bring an increased risk of water-related incidents.

Our crews will be working around the clock to keep Lancashire safe, but we need your help too.

If you're looking to cool off, choose a supervised swimming pool rather than lakes, reservoirs or other open water.

While open water may look inviting, hidden hazards beneath the surface and the effects of cold water shock can quickly turn a day out into an emergency – even for strong swimmers.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in the UK, and around half of those who lose their lives in water never intended to enter it.

Please enjoy the sunshine safely.

🚒 Skelmersdale On-Call Crew have been sharpening their stinger skills to ensure they are always operationally ready.

In rural areas, access to hydrants can be challenging, so it’s important that crews are trained to use open water supplies when needed.

For this exercise, we used the lake at Scarisbrick Hall School.

A huge thank you to Scarisbrick Hall School for allowing us to conduct our training at such a fantastic location. 🚒💦👏

Our survey on the future of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service closes this Sunday.

We’re currently developing our next Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), the five-year plan that guides how we keep people across Lancashire safe. At this stage, there are no proposed changes; we’re simply asking communities what matters most to them.

Your feedback will help shape how our services are delivered in the years ahead, and we’re keen to hear from as many people as possible before the survey closes.
