We’re proud to share that Coedffranc Town Council received three Commended awards at the One Voice Wales 2026 Awards, recognising excellence across environmental action, community engagement, and digital communications:
 
Best Environmental Project - our biodiversity initiative, delivered in partnership with One Voice Wales and supported by external funding, has introduced ecological grounds management, wildflower meadows, and new wildlife habitats across our green spaces.
 
Best Community Engagement Initiative - our first Warm Hub provided residents with a safe, welcoming space during the winter months, combining practical support with creative community activities.
 
Best Use of Digital Resources - a full transformation of our digital communications, including a refreshed website, new social media presence, and our monthly digital newsletter.
 
This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, councillors, and the wider Coedffranc community. We look forward to building on this momentum.

It is with profound sorrow that Coedffranc Town Council heard of Bonnie Tyler’s death on 8 July, aged 75. Born and brought up in Skewen, she became one of Wales’ most cherished performers, yet to us she remained a local figure. She carried Skewen, and Wales, with her throughout her life. Our sympathies go to her family and close contacts during this period.

⚠️ Anti-Social Behaviour in Our Parks ⚠️

Coedffranc Town Council is aware of ongoing incidents of anti-social behaviour in our parks, directed at both our staff and members of the public.

Our park attendants and evening staff, the people who give up their evenings to keep your pool, toilets and facilities open, have been subjected to harassment and abuse on several consecutive evenings by the same children.

Members of the public using the parks have also been targeted, and this is completely unacceptable.

South Wales Police have had their highest presence in the park in recent times and have attended on multiple occasions this week. We are grateful for their continued support and are working closely alongside them. However, we recognise that the police cannot be present at all times, and this is why we need the community’s help.

If you witness anti-social behaviour in our parks, please report it to South Wales Police by calling 101, or 999 if it is an emergency. Every report matters and helps build the picture needed to take further action.

We are committed to keeping our parks safe and welcoming for everyone, and we will not allow this behaviour to continue. Thank you for your support. 💚

Good news for days out in Coedffranc!

We’ve been busy installing new picnic benches, perfect for a sit-down with the family after a play! You’ll find them at Skewen Park, Crymlyn Burrows, Llandarcy play parks and soon, alongside Carnegie Hall library on the grassed area.

But we’re not stopping there. Where would YOU love to see a picnic bench? Let us know in the comments. Your ideas help shape our community!
