To the children of foster parents... 💛

Being part of a fostering family means you have to share your home, your things and sometimes your parents' time and attention with other children.

There can be lots of great things about growing up in a fostering family. You can make new friends and create memories together. But...it isn't always easy, and there might be times when things feel a bit difficult.

It's completely normal to have mixed feelings about fostering. You might really enjoy having other children in your home, but also sometimes wish you had a bit more space or time with your parents. Both of those things can be true!

We think it's really important to recognise the part you play in your fostering family, and to remember that your own feelings and needs are just as important as everyone else's.

So, this Children of Foster Parents' Week, we wanted to take the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all the children who are part of our Flourish fostering families. We really appreciate you and hope you know how important you are. 🧡💙

WE ARE HIRING.

We are hiring a Referral Co-ordinator based in Stockport OR Kent.

As our Referrals Co-ordinator, you'll help match children with suitable Flourish fostering families by managing referrals, gathering important information and exploring potential matches.

You'll work closely with our referrals team, social workers and local authorities to support a smooth, timely and child-centred referral process.

Supporting someone through their difficult days can look like a lot of different things

Maybe it's making them a cup of tea and sitting with them for a while, sharing a laugh. Or simply letting them know you're there

For children who have experienced trauma and those supporting them, these small moments can be especially important

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to have Sarah and James from Replenish Culture lead a session with some of our northern foster parents and staff.

The session was really insightful, and everyone who attended found it incredibly useful.

If you're in the area and would like to learn more, Sarah and James are also hosting Replenish Culture: Hair Care and Community in Camden on 24th October.

It's a great opportunity to continue the conversation and learn more about culturally inclusive hair care.

At the weekend, some of the Flourish North young people enjoyed a great, informative first aid course with the team at Millie's Trust.

They learnt about CPR and the recovery position, amongst other things.

They all worked really hard and got a certificate to prove it!
