🚨 Don’t fall for a 🚨

Rogue waste traders don’t necessarily look like criminals but they can hide behind professional-looking adverts, five-star reviews, low prices and promises of quick rubbish removal.

🗑️ Don’t just trust the advert - check the trader. A cheap, convincing or professional-looking advert does not necessarily mean that the operator is legitimate.

✅ Make these three simple checks to protect yourself, your community and the local environment:

📄 Ask to see the trader’s waste carrier licence.
🔍 Check the licence number on the Environment Agency’s public register or call 0300 065 3000 - https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers
🧾 Make sure you’ll receive a receipt.

⚠️ If someone won’t provide the information you need, don’t give them your rubbish. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Fight Fly-Tipping | 12–25 October

Fly-tipping blights our streets, parks and neighbourhoods, with more than a million incidents each year costing taxpayers millions of pounds - money that could support vital services such as schools, libraries, parks and social care.

Don’t get caught out by a . Around 38% of fly-tipping incidents are linked to unlicensed rogue traders advertising cheap waste removal on social media. If your waste is dumped illegally, you could still be held responsible and receive a fixed penalty notice. Always check that anyone taking your waste away is properly licensed.

On Thursday 8th October 2026 Solihull Trading Standards, together with West Midlands Police, carried out an inspection at a shop in Solihull town centre.

Approximately 36 single-use disposable vapes were signed over to us by the business. The sale of single-use vapes has been illegal since 1st June 2025 and all relevant businesses in Solihull should be aware of this.

Trading Standards will continue to make sure that illegal to***co and va**ng products are not sold in the borough.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards have issued a safety alert for baby sleeping bags without armholes or with a hood.

These products pose a serious, or even lethal risk as they can allow a baby to slip inside the sleeping bag or have their nose and mouth covered.

❌️ Do not buy or use these products.

If you already own one, stop using it immediately and contact the supplier.

Solihull Council prosecutes market stallholder for counterfeit clothing

We have successfully prosecuted 51-year-old Narendra Goodman Pun at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday 29 September, for attempting to sell counterfeit clothing with a street value of more than £40,000.

Pun, who is director of Narendra Albert UK Ltd – which trades as Violets Collection – pleaded guilty to nine counts of unauthorised use of a trademark.

The offences came to light after Trading Standards received a report that Pun was selling counterfeit goods at an externally organised Christmas market in the town centre in December last year. Officers seized 386 items of counterfeit clothing for well-known trademarks including Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger and Arctic Monkeys, and worked with brand holders who confirmed the items were fake goods.
