🚗 Moorthorpe Station Car Park News 🚗

Work will begin shortly at Moorthorpe Railway Station on a regeneration scheme to modernise and increase parking availability at the station.

The program which will be delivered by the WYCA, will result in car parking spaces almost doubling at Moorthorpe Rail Station – enabling more park and ride journeys.

The number of parking spaces at Moorthorpe Station will almost double thanks to £2.5 million worth of investment, making it easier for people from South Elmsall, Moorthorpe and South Kirkby to travel by train.

Work is set to start on site next week to extend the car park by 42 spaces, bringing the total up to 87.

The project, which is being delivered by West Yorkshire Combined Authority in partnership with Network Rail and Northern, will also feature accessible parking spaces, new lighting and better drainage.

This is a positive development for our ward, and I would like to thank all at the WYCA for getting this over the line.

I didn’t expect to be posting this so soon after hitting 2500 followers, but it turns out people like straight talking answers in the council chamber!

As ever, thank you all for the support. As you know, I won’t take no nonsense or hypocrisy and I’ll keep fighting for our district and most importantly to me, South Elmsall and South Kirkby.

At full council yesterday, Wakefield Labour leader Councillor Ayub decided to question me on the legitimacy of The Ridings consultation and on the inheritance Labour left.

Let me be clear, I am not taking any lectures from the party that not only bulldozed through the purchase of The Ridings without consulting effected local businesses and residents just before an election, but also have presided over…

- Proposing Digital ID
- Working to scrap jury trials
- Cancelling elections in May
- Have crowned a new PM, who is promising huge changes without a mandate

Labour don’t give a damn about consulting you, keeping to our common principles of decency, or respecting traditions.

🚗 Road Repair Investment Scheme 🚗

During the election, us Reform UK candidates pledged that making a difference to our roads would be a main priority.

Since forming the new administration in Wakefield, we have since discovered that the problem is even worse than feared, with 20+ years of underinvestment by Labour leaving the districts roads in a state of disrepair and decay.

However, we meant what we said and we are making a start.

So from today until the end of August, I want your suggestions on the roads that need the most TLC in South Elmsall, Moorthorpe and South Kirkby. The administration is putting additional funding into fixing our roads, so we want to know which ones are a priority to you?

Please comment below (ideally with pictures) which road you’d like to nominate.

The most urgent suggestions will be put forward for our first phase of additional road repair investment.

👏Frickley Athletic - Jim Aisbitt Stand👏

It’s fantastic to see that through community generosity, the late Jim Aisbitt has had the disabled shelter upgraded and dedicated to his legacy at Frickley Athletic.

Jim spent decades volunteering for the club, raising thousands of pounds and he would always help whenever needed. He was a true clubman.

Great work by all involved, it’s important that we pay tribute to residents who have given such commitment and service to our community.

I’d just like to say thank you to all of my followers, we have now smashed through the 2500 mark.

It’s been an incredibly busy last few months and I’m loving working for you all.

This is just the beginning, I am fighting for all of you that stood up for change in our community of South Elmsall and South Kirkby in May, and for those that want to see radical change in our country.

Let’s keep standing together ✊
