📈 I am incredibly proud to have been appointed Cabinet member for District Regeneration and Regional Growth by Council Leader Karl Johnson.

The Wakefield District whether in urban or rural communities, have endured multiple decades of stagnation, economic decline and under-investment.

You have placed your trust in your local Reform councillors to deliver change, and change we will strive for. Whether that is looking at how we can re-energise and re-equip our city/town centres so that they are fit for the future, or local projects that provide increased opportunity in sports, arts, leisure and business.

As always, get in touch with any suggestions.

Meet Matthew - Cabinet Member for District Regeneration and Regional Growth.

Matthew has over a decade of experience in procurement, working with public and private sector stakeholders. His background gives him a strong comprehension of economics, working with strategic partners, analysing market trends, and conducting negotiations.

Cllr Pinder has a track record of working with business leaders, legal experts and finance professionals to deliver growth, whilst managing contracts and high-level budgets.

Matthew is also a widely respected leader in the sporting community. And has a detailed grasp on how regeneration enhances the opportunities for residents, in every corner of the district.

🚲 Farewell to Dons Cycles 🚲

Sadly, today is the final trading day for a long time feature of our high street in South Elmsall, Dons Cycles.

Unfortunately, it is yet another local business that has fell foul of changing shopping habits, with more choosing to buy online. We want to keep a diverse range of businesses in our area, so I would always encourage everyone to shop local if you can.

I’d just like to wish Mark Binns who has run the shop for over a decade all the best in his retirement, and if anyone wants a last minute deal, to pop in today.

🗳️Vote Rob Kenyon in Makerfield 🗳️

Yesterday afternoon, I led a team of volunteers from around the country canvassing around Makerfield to support Robert Kenyon, our Reform UK candidate.

Rob is a local lad, a plumber, and military reservist who is wanting to be a strong voice in parliament for his community.

That is the polar opposite to Andy Burnham, who is using Makerfield as a stepping stone to become Prime Minister.

Any time that you have free, get over to Makerfield and get knocking them doors. The response is really positive but we need to keep working flat out until 10pm on polling day.

🍰 Supporting Local Business🕯️

Straight after my appointment as Cabinet member for Strategic Regeneration and District Growth on Wednesday, I popped down to Wakefield Market on my lunch to meet some of our young and experienced entrepreneurs.

It’s so encouraging to meet so many young people who are grafting to not just make a living for themselves, but to make their community a more inviting place.

It was great to meet you all, keep up the good work and I want you to know that Wakefield Council will always have your back.

🚨Cabinet Appointment🚨

I am absolutely honoured to have been asked to serve as the cabinet member for District Regeneration and Regional Growth on Wakefield MDC.

At a time where areas in our district, including our very own here in South Elmsall and South Kirkby feel left behind, focus on our long term growth and success is absolutely paramount.

Reform UK backs local business and that’s not just a slogan. I will now fight to ensure that local economic growth and regeneration is at the heart of policy decisions, so that we have thriving independent shops, retailers and hospitality for years to come.

I also feel that we have a long term responsibility in the district to ensure that we create a society in which businesses growth and regeneration means that our children don’t feel the need to have to move away to achieve their ambitions. This long term outlook will be at the heart of our decision making.

Reform UK, beginning now in Wakefield, and finishing in Westminster, will deliver the long term societal and economic change that our communities and country deserves.

Support us on this journey and if any business wants to get in touch with any ideas they have for the community, whether here in South Elmsall and South Kirkby, or around the district, please get in touch.
