At last week’s Annual Parish Meeting, we discussed a number of priorities and projects for the coming year, including:

* a grant-funded, village-wide speed survey to provide data that can help influence the Police, Hampshire Highways, and planning authorities in relation to existing and future housing developments
* launching a Community Speed Watch programme
* extending and improving the layout of the New Road Playing Field car park to help address parking and safety concerns along that stretch of New Road
* additional street lighting on New Road
* resurfacing the village centre car park
* investigating opportunities for Parish Council-owned social housing

These priorities have been shaped by feedback, conversations and comments we receive throughout the year. We would now like to gather more detailed views through a village-wide survey.

Please take a few moments to share your feedback on the issues that matter most to you. Your responses will help guide and shape the Parish Council’s future priorities and work for the village.

The Parish Council owns and deploys an AutoSpeedWatch device. It's currently located on Droxford Road, capturing speeding vehicles travelling north towards Droxford.

The device records the number plates of vehicles exceeding the speed limit. The Parish Council uses the data to help inform our own understanding of speeding issues and we are pleased to report that Hampshire Police are now accepting anonymised data produced by these devices.

The Police will be analysing locations and the days/times with the highest numbers of speeding vehicles to help inform decisions about future enforcement activity.

Below is a snapshot of the data gathered at Droxford Road over the last four weeks.

Thank you to everyone who came to this years Annual Meeting of the Parish. One of the highlights of the meeting for us is celebrating our community heroes, and this year’s award winner was truly well deserved.

The award was presented to Dennis Wheeler, who serves as treasurer of both the Lunch Club and the Care Group. Without Dennis, the Lunch Club would not have served up over 1,200 lunches last year, nor would the Care Group have been able to provide more than 100 trips to doctors’ appointments and hospitals.

Thank you, Dennis, for your dedication, generosity, and outstanding service to our community.

Join us next week for a glass of wine or beer (non alcoholic choices available) and nibbles while we update you on what we've been getting up to in the village and what we have planned for the future.

Malcolm Wallace has been working hard to get Southern Water to acknowledge the wastewater system failures affecting our village, particularly on the newer estates, and will be updating us on the progress being made. It’s fair to say that no one was untouched this winter by the impact of our struggling infrastructure.

The two Gary's (SPC and WCC) are going to update us on their joint working to combat fly tipping. You will be surprised just how much evidence they have been gathering...

We will do our best to update you on the Local Plans - our most recent conversations with both Wi******er and South Downs National Park and what the next steps might look like.

And most importantly we are celebrating one of our village heroes, a hero who deserves a life time achievement award in terms of what they have given to Swanmore.
