Southampton FC are offering free tickets for adults and children to watch Saints U21s take on Juventus U21s at St Mary's Stadium.

Wi******er District Local Plan 2026-2044 – Scoping Consultation

Wi******er City Council is preparing a new Local Plan covering the period 2026-2044 and is asking people to take part in an initial Scoping Consultation.

At this stage, no decisions are being made on specific development sites. Instead, the Scoping Consultation seeks views on:

How the Council should engage with stakeholders throughout the preparation of the Local Plan.
How the Council should approach the preparation of the new Local Plan, taking into account the circumstances of the Wi******er plan area and the changes to national planning policy.

Please note that the consultation is running for 3 weeks, the deadline for responses is 23:59 on Friday 9th October 2026.

Brilliant news! Great work from Swanmore ACSO and Wi******er City Council

🚯 We've successfully prosecuted a Luton man for fly-tipping in Swanmore.

Swanmore Parish Council surveillance cameras captured the 38 year-old fly-tipping rubbish from the boot of a vehicle in a public car park at New Road on the afternoon of Monday 24 October 2022.

The registered owner of the offending vehicle, he failed to co-operate with our investigation until he was interviewed for an unrelated matter in March 2024.

He pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates Court in a case prosecuted by Wi******er City Council, and has been sentenced to pay a fine of £600, a victim surcharge of £240, and prosecution and clear-up costs of £400, making a total to pay of £1,240.

In May 2026, the Parish Council commissioned a comprehensive speed survey covering 16 locations across the village. The data has now been analysed and the full report is available on our website:

The results will inform our ongoing discussions with:

• Hampshire County Council on potential road safety improvements;
• Hampshire Constabulary to request more speed enforcement;
• Wi******er City Council and the South Downs National Park when we are considering future housing development.

Addressing the issue of speeding is a key priority for the Parish Council. We operate three Speed Indicator Devices (smiley face signs) across 11 village locations as well as an AutoSpeedWatch camera. Data from this camera is sent to Hampshire Constabulary each month.

We are also helping a group of residents establish a Community Speedwatch group but need lots more volunteers. Please email us if you would like to get involved and/or if you have any comments on the survey: [email protected].

South Downs National Park Local Plan- what happens next?

The Regulation 19 consultation on the proposed new South Downs Local Plan closed on 23 June 2026.

SDNP officers are currently reviewing all consultation responses and supporting documents.

A summary of the representations received, and any proposed modifications will be considered by the Planning Committee on 12 November 2026 and by the National Park Authority on 8 December 2026.

Subject to the Authority’s decision in December, the Local Plan is expected to be submitted for examination and approval by the Planning Inspectorate before the end of 2026.
