Ford TRANSITion Soton

Ford TRANSITion Soton Ford TRANSITion is a NLHF community history project exploring Southampton's shift from making to moving through the history of the former Ford site.

It ran in 2018, following the closure of the plant. Stories are deposited in the Hampshire Record Office. 'TRANSITion: from fields to Ford and Beyond' is a community history project which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a year of activities in 2018. Together, volunteers, including ex-Ford workers, explored the transformation of the site of the former Ford Assembly Plant in Sou

thampton. Since 1939, the site has seen the production of aircraft parts (Cunliffe Owen), motor parts (Briggs) and transit vans (Ford). In 2018, it was redeveloped as a logistics park for businesses attracted by Southampton's status as 'Gateway to the World'.
