The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is the legally recognized body for student representation at the University of St Andrews since 1889. There are 19 positions on the SRC, excluding the Chair and Sabbs. The SRC meets once a month during the academic year to discuss a variety of business.. All members have a single vote on the SRC, but there is one non-voting member, the Rectors Assessor, w
hich is appointed by the University. The SRC has 11 subcommittees: Accommodation; Equal Opportunities’; Wellbeing; Education; Alumni; Environment; LGBT+; Community Relations; Lifelong and Flexible Learners; Disabled Students Network and the BAME Students’ Network. All Students are automatically members of these subcommittees when they matriculate. The SAF leads the activities and events of the Students’ Association, and is a forum for collaboration. There are 13 positions on the SAF, excluding the Chair and Sabbs. The SAF meets twice a semester during the academic year. All members have a single vote on the SAF, but there are four non-voting member: Design Team Convenor, Ents Convenor, Arts Festival Convener, and the Principal Ambassador as they are appointed by an interview process. The Subcommittees are: Charities Campaign, Union Debating Society, Design Team, Ents Crew, Mermaids, Music Fund STAR, On the Rocks Arts Festival, SVS, and the Postgraduate Society. The Association Chair manages all of the councils business. Together, these student representatives work to organise and coordinate student events and activities to ensure that you get the most out of your Union.
