A night of classic music and timeless hits is set to take centre stage in Mossley later this spring, as a special charity concert comes to the George Lawton Hall.

Singer Colin George will present Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story on Saturday, May 30, bringing the iconic sounds of Nat King Cole to life for a local audience.

The performance will be accompanied by the English Jazz Orchestra, promising an evening of smooth vocals, big band arrangements and much-loved classics.

The show is being staged in association with Stalybridge Town Team volunteers.

Taking place at George Lawton Hall, doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £15.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting Willow Wood Hospice, helping to fund vital care and services for patients and families across the local community.

‘Has Bridge Got Talent?’ Auditions announced for Bridge Fest 2026

Aspiring performers are being invited to take centre stage as auditions open for this year’s Bridge Fest in Stalybridge.

Organisers from Stalybridge Town Team have launched a call-out for musicians, singers and artists to showcase their talents as part of the popular community festival, set to return on Saturday, September 5.

Branded “Has Bridge Got Talent?”, the auditions will take place on Saturday, April 18 at Bohemian Lounge, giving local performers the chance to secure a spot in the festival line-up.

The initiative aims to highlight homegrown talent and give artists from across the area an opportunity to perform in front of a wider audience during one of the town’s biggest annual events.

Anyone interested in auditioning is encouraged to get in touch with the Stalybridge Town Team via email at [email protected].

Bridge Fest has become a staple of the local calendar, bringing together live music and entertainment, and organisers say this year’s event is already shaping up to be bigger than ever.

We’re inviting all volunteers and friends of Stalybridge to join our next Town Team Clean-Up on:

📍 Armentières Square (near Tesco car park)

We’ll start with a quick briefing at the Town Team Hub before heading out in small teams to tackle litter around the town and along the canal.

All help is welcome — whether you can spare an hour or stay for the morning. Gloves, bags and equipment will be provided.

🌿 A Fresh Splash of Green on the Stalybridge Canal! 🌿

Our amazing volunteers have been busy once again — this time teaming up with the Canal & River Trust to create a brand‑new canal‑side planter near Tesco.

Together, we built and planted a bespoke canal‑boat‑style planter, now filled with herbs and wildflowers to brighten the towpath and support local biodiversity.

This project is a great example of what partnership working can achieve for our town. We’re proud to play our part in improving the environment and creating welcoming spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.

More joint projects are planned throughout the year — watch this space for updates!

A strong turnout of volunteers joined the Stalybridge Town Team this morning for another successful community tidy-up.

Residents of all ages came together to help make the town look its best, collecting litter and taking pride in their local surroundings.

We were particularly pleased to welcome the “little litter pickers” who took part.

Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved provided a real boost to the morning’s activities.

The Town Team would like to remind residents that everybody is welcome to join future sessions, whether for a short time or the full event.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to another productive and positive morning for Stalybridge. ♥️
