🌧️ A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place across Staffordshire, with heavy rain expected over the coming days.

Heavy rainfall can quickly lead to flooding, surface water on roads, and dangerous travel conditions. We're reminding everyone to take extra care and plan ahead. Please remember:

🚗 Slow down and leave extra distance between you and the vehicle in front, as stopping distances increase in wet weather.

💧 Never drive through flood water. It can be difficult to judge how deep it is, and driving through flooded roads could leave you stranded, damage your vehicle, or put lives at risk.

🗞️ Keep up to date with local news, weather forecasts, and any road closures before you travel.

🚨 If there is an immediate risk to life, call 999.

Stay safe and take extra care while the warning is in place.

We are pleased to confirm that a firefighter who worked bravely to tackle a serious fire in Sandyford, Stoke-on-Trent, has been discharged from hospital after 13 days, including a week receiving treatment in critical care.

Six firefighters were taken to hospital after responding to the incident on Thursday 13 August. Five of them were quickly discharged, with the remaining firefighter being discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 26 August).

Although this is a positive step, he still has a journey of recovery ahead and will continue to be supported by the service.

His family would like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and support over the past two weeks. They have been incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to them.

The incident is also a reminder of how quickly fire can spread during prolonged periods of hot, dry weather. His family hope that his experience encourages people to think carefully before using barbeques or other ignition sources on our greenspaces in Staffordshire.

A large grass fire measuring approximately 40 acres in High Offley has been deemed to have been caused accidentally.
We were called at 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 25 August) to land off Peggs Lane following reports of a fire.

Nine appliances, including two from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene and found multiple fields well alight.
Crews used main jets, hose reel jets and wildfire hoses to extinguish the fire.

We were delighted to welcome Chloe and her mum to Rugeley Fire Station after hearing about Chloe's concerns for wildlife affected by the recent wildfires.

Chloe had created some wonderful paintings to share her thoughts and support, and we wanted to thank her in person for her kindness and passion for protecting the environment.

During the visit, Chloe met some of our firefighters and neighbourhood policing colleagues, and learned more about how the emergency services work together to help keep our communities safe. She also had the chance to take a closer look at our fire appliance, specialist equipment and emergency vehicles. 🚒

It was a pleasure to meet Chloe and see her enthusiasm firsthand. 👏

We are urging people not to enter open water after a teenager got stuck in mud at Chasewater Country Park in Burntwood.

Crews were called to the scene at 4.15pm on Friday (21 August) following reports that a girl was stuck in knee-deep mud.

Multiple appliances attended the scene and assisted a girl to safety.

Group Manager Jordan Money attended the scene. He said: “Entering open water can put you in significant danger and I'm urging people to take the necessary measures to stay safe in Staffordshire.

“Thankfully, the girl rescued in this incident was not injured, but the risk that this type of activity poses to people is still very high."

Firefighters are continuing to extinguish a fire involving around 40 acres of grassland in Stafford.

We were called at 12.30pm today (Tuesday 25 August) to land off Peggs Lane in High Offley, following reports of a fire.

Nine appliances attended the scene and found multiple fields well alight.

Crews are using main jets, hose reel jets, a water carrier and a wildfire hose.

Thankfully nobody has been reported injured.

We would like to thank the local farming community who have used their equipment to help contain the fire.

Multiple crews are currently at the scene of a large grass fire in Stafford.

We were called at 12.30pm today (Tuesday 25 August) to a field off Peggs Lane, High Offley, following reports of a fire.

Crews are working to extinguish the fire which involves multiple fields.

Please avoid the area where possible.

Firefighters have tackled a derelict building fire in Burton-upon-Trent.

We were called at 10.45pm on Saturday (22 August) to land off Burton Road following reports of a fire.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a derelict building well alight.

The fire was extinguished using main jets and thankfully nobody was reported injured.
