Tragically, 8 teenagers have lost their lives during this period of hot weather.

We desperately hope this does not happen to anyone else - we are urging everyone to make sure they and their loved ones are aware of the dangers of water.

Remember:

💧 Water is often deeper and stronger than it looks
💧There may be hidden currents
💧There may be hazards lying beneath the surface
💧 If you fall into water by accident, follow the float to live advice

Kidsgrove Community Fire Station recently took part in some training with colleagues from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at their Winsford training facility. 🚒

Two pumps from Staffordshire and two from Cheshire were used in a simulated house fire incident.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and entered the properties to locate and extinguish the fire. They also carried out a full search inside, as well as rescuing the casualties.

It was great to collaboratively work together - a huge thank you to Crewe!

Sadly, a teenage girl has died in a lake not far from our border yesterday evening. Our thoughts are with the girl's family, friends and our emergency service colleagues.

We know the weather is extremely hot and open water is appealing to cool off in, but please be aware of the dangers and ensure your children are too.

We don't want to be reporting a similar tragedy - so our plea to you is to enjoy the sun safely.
