As of yesterday, I am no longer the Mayor of Sunderland.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me through the last two years.

Being the Mayor of Sunderland has been the honour of my life.

In my time as Mayor, I have raised over £26600 for two children's charities. During my time in office, I have had the pleasure of seeing first hand the improvements made in the city, hundreds of millions of pounds of investments are completely transforming the cities skyline.

During my time as Deputy Mayor and then Mayor, I attended over 340 engagements and I have had the great privilege of meeting the most incredible people this city has to offer.

Although I am no longer Mayor I am still here for our local residents as your local councillor.

After an extremely long and difficult campaign, I have been successfully elected as Councillor for Barnes and Thornhill ward finishing first place with 1502 votes, along with my fellow candidates Cllr Fiona Tobin and Cllr Caroline Comer.

I would like to thank all the residents who have put their trust in us to represent them on the council.

For us the hard work will begin now, listening to residents improving our local area and being active in the community.

As many of you know, On May 7th there will be an all-out election for every seat on the council. This means you will receive three votes to cast. Many of you will already have received your postal ballots. I am asking you to cast all three votes for me and my two fellow Labour candidates :
❌️Caroline Comer
❌️Ehthesham Haque
❌️Fiona Tobin

During my three years on the council I have seen Labour deliver massively for this city, including hundreds of millions of pounds of investment into the community and I have seen thousands of jobs created. I personally have worked tirelessly serving our community speaking to thousands of residents Aswell as serving our city as the Mayor.

In Barnes and Thornhill only two parties can win either Labour or Reform UK, a vote for any party other than labour will help Reform win here and risk all the amazing redevelopment and investment our city is achieving whilst also having the lowest council tax in the entire region.

If you have not yet registered to vote it takes two minutes and you can do so here : https://orlo.uk/zkfOD you have until 20th of April to register.

Many residents have become concerned about dangerous parking on Chester Road. I myself have seen how often cars will pull all four wheels onto the pavement while people are walking along the pavement.

Both Cllr Fiona and I have asked the council to consider installing railings along the worst-affected areas. We are happy to say we have been successful in our request and will soon work through the finer details before coming back to residents with a plan of what this will look like.

Please follow this page for further updates.

I have been made aware that several residents have been affected by power outages.

I have been speaking to the Northern Power Grid, who have informed me that they believe over 2000 houses are affected. They are working to restore power in batches and aim to have all residents' power restored by 12AM.

If you are affected, please could you either report the outage on https://www.northernpowergrid.com/power-cuts-map or call 105.
This helps the Northern Powergrid map out exactly where is affected.
