Hello.
Norbiton Honey Beekeeper here.
I hope I shall have bees again this spring. And with a lot of luck, perhaps some honey to sell late summer.
Meanwhile.
Please listen to The Food Program on Radio 4, talking today about honey fraud.
I know my loyal customers understand the importance of buying from a local beekeeper, and paying the associated price.
Everyone needs to be aware that if honey is too cheap, it is almost certainly adulterated.
Safest way to assure pure honey is only to buy a jar, traceable with the name of the beekeeper on it!

We can confirm that a dog chased and attacked a deer in Richmond Park yesterday. Sadly, the deer had to be put down due to the severity of its injuries. This is a deeply distressing incident.

Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve and home to around 630 red and fallow deer, which roam freely in this wild landscape. The park is a sanctuary for wildlife, and it is illegal to allow dogs to chase deer. Dog walkers must ensure their pets are under close control at all times. If there is any doubt about a dog's temperament or recall ability, it must be kept on a lead or walked elsewhere.

Additionally, there are specific circumstances when dogs must be kept on a lead, such as during deer birthing season and in clearly marked skylark nesting areas.

Enforcement of park regulations is a matter for the Royal Parks Police, and we will continue to support their efforts in safeguarding the park. This event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible dog ownership in protecting the park’s wildlife and ensuring the safety of all visitors.

Gosh. I had not realised how long it has been since I last wrote anything.
As some of you will be aware, due to a complex ankle fracture this summer, I am out of action.
My bees are being looked after by a wonderful friend.
And there will be honey. In due course.

Meanwhile I want to alert you to a serious threat to all UK bees. Honey bees and wild.

The Asian Hornet. Vespa Velutina.
Frequently mis identified in the press with horror stories and the wrong photographs.
This non native was accidentally imported into France some years ago.
It has spread through much of Europe and is now making an appearance in the UK.
We can't now hope to eradicate it.
The best hope is acurate information, observation and reporting sightings to the proper authorities by the public. YOU.
