The HMO Impact Reduction Initiative is a community-led effort to highlight the dangers of HMO concentration and urge the Council to track and regulate HMOs in Kingston-upon-Thames to the same degree as we see in many of our neighbouring boroughs.

The HMO petition closes on Friday. Please sign if you think we should have the same regulations around HMOs as the rest of London:

Time is running out to sign the petition asking the council to introduce regulations on HMO concentration (closes on 28th Nov). Please support this:

It is really important because there are currently NO regulations in Kingston-on-Thames to protect us (as have been rolled out in most other London boroughs). Clustering of HMOs is already an issue in our borough.

Please click on the link to see the impact HMO concentration has on the area and it's house prices.

Hi All, received some positive news from Emily Davey on HMOs:

"A new local plan will cover density of HMOs and will go out to consultation next year. At which point you will be able to feed in your thoughts about the proposals to reduce the density of HMOs. It will cover things like sandwiching."

But we still need signatures on the council petition to show the council this is important: https://kingston.moderngov.co.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=160&RPID=118485007&HPID=118485007&$LO$=1

(There are currently no regulations in the borough to prevent the concentration of HMOs that we see happening in certain areas). Thanks so much.

Difference in earnings between HMOs and a regular family home is substantial, which is driving a huge proliferation of HMOs in our area. Yes, we want more people housed - but if we don't cap HMOs, we'll start to experience a shortage of regular BTL homes. Please sign this petition to ask the council for more thoughtful regulation in our area: https://kingston.moderngov.co.uk/mgEPetitionListDisplay.aspx
