You know those little chats:

You sang lots of songs today.
I can see so many red buses.
Look at the blue sky - there are birds flying!

This is how children learn how to talk - the back and forth, the rhythm, and how expressions are part of it too. They also learn that what they say matters to you.

Remember, you can ‘talk’ with children who don’t use words yet. Give them time to respond - with sounds, movement or expressions - and notice what they’re telling you. Conversations don’t just happen through words.

Parent/Carer Group: Supporting Infants with Big Emotions & Behaviours

Does your little one aged 1–4 years sometimes struggle with big emotions or challenging behaviours? Are you looking for ways to better understand and support them?

Our Education Wellbeing Service is running a friendly, supportive parent/carer group at Sutton Best Start Family Hub!

What will we cover?
Understanding your child’s behaviour
Practical tips and strategies to help your child express and manage big emotions
Ways to support your little one through those big feelings

📅 Session dates:
Wednesday 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th November 2026, with a follow-up session on 9th December 2026.

🕤 Time: 9:30am–11:00am

Yesterday, we were truly honoured to attend the Sutton Volunteer Recognition Awards.

Hearing the stories of so many amazing volunteers across Sutton was incredibly moving. Volunteers give their own time to support others, make connections and strengthen our communities. Their kindness, dedication and generosity really do make a difference.

We were especially proud to see our very own Sandy recognised for her volunteering!

Sandy joined Wallington Best Start Family Hub three and a half years ago, volunteering in our Stay & Play sessions. Since then, she has built lovely relationships with parents and children and has truly become part of our team.

Sandy, thank you for all your hard work, your time, your kindness and the support you give to our families. We are so grateful to have you as part of our Best Start Family Hub family!

A huge thank you to Sandy and to all the wonderful volunteers across Sutton who give so much to others. You are appreciated more than you know!
