Mentoring creates connection, confidence and belonging πŸ’š

When a young person arrives in a new country, finding their feet can feel overwhelming.

Through our Ukrainian mentoring pathway, we match young people from Ukraine with a volunteer mentor who simply shows up - week after week πŸ’š

This is one of those pairs, simply having fun on a sunny afternoon in a local park. And we think that's pretty special.

We're grateful to Sutton Council for making this pathway possible πŸ’š

πŸ’š Day 3 of Mental Health Awareness Week: TAKE NOTICE πŸ’š

Taking notice is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing β€” it’s about slowing down, being present, and paying attention to the world around us. Whether it’s noticing the needs of others, appreciating nature, or offering small acts of kindness, mindfulness can have a powerful impact on mental wellbeing.

This week, why not support wellbeing in Sutton by volunteering with purpose?

πŸ₯ As a Ward Volunteer at The Royal Marsden volunteers offer time, compassion, and practical support to patients and staff β€” noticing the small things that can make a big difference during someone’s day.

🀲 With Helping Hands at Jigsaw4u volunteers provide thoughtful support to families and young people, offering care and understanding when it matters most.

πŸ’œ At Carshalton Lavender volunteers can connect with nature, support the local environment, and help others enjoy the calming benefits of one of Sutton’s most beautiful spaces.

You can find details of these roles β€” plus over 200 other volunteering opportunities β€” on our Volunteer Hub: https://vcsutton.org.uk/volunteer-roles-hub/

By taking notice, we can nurture kindness, connection, and wellbeing β€” for ourselves and our community.

Pause. Look around. Get involved. Because wellbeing grows when we take notice. πŸ’š

Being active is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing β€” and movement can do so much more than support physical health. It can boost mood, reduce stress, build confidence, and create connection through shared purpose.
