🏡 Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Housing Drop-in last week!

We welcomed 14 tenants to our Kendricks Close Housing Drop-in, including residents from Hartshorne, Melbourne and Newhall.

The event gave tenants the opportunity to speak to our Housing Team face to face, raise any concerns and find out more about the support available to them.

We were also joined by CVS Safer Homes and an Energy Outreach Advisor from Citizens Advice, who were able to offer advice, make referrals and arrange appointments for several of those who attended.

💬 Our Housing Drop-ins are a great opportunity to come and speak to us in person and access support from partner organisations within your community.

📅 Our next Housing Drop-in will take place at Brook Close, Findern on Wednesday 16 September, 1-3pm.

🚑 Gain a FREE Emergency First Aid at Work qualification!

Are you aged 16–64, living in South Derbyshire and looking to take a positive step towards your future?

Active Futures is offering a free one-day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification for people who are:

✅ Out of education, employment or training
✅ In insecure employment, such as a zero-hours contract
✅ At risk of redundancy
✅ Looking to change career because their current work is no longer meeting their needs

📅 Thursday 17 September
⏰ 9.30am–4pm
📍 Swadlincote Town Hall
🚌 Transport can be provided

The course is supportive, completely free and a great opportunity to gain a recognised qualification, build your confidence and strengthen your CV.

Unfortunately, due to the forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms this afternoon, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today's Historical Inventor Xplorer Family Trail at Cadley Park.

The safety of everyone attending is our priority, and the expected weather conditions mean it is not possible for the event to go ahead.

We apologise for any disappointment this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

📣 Last week we launched our Residents Survey 2026. Thanks to everyone that has taken part so far, your views are important to us.

It is key that we understand more about what matters most to you as residents, what services you value and what is unique to South Derbyshire that you would like to see preserved as we head into a new structure of local government in April 2028.

Looking for a different way to get your business noticed across South Derbyshire?

Businesses can now advertise their products and services on South Derbyshire District Council vehicles, putting your brand in front of local audiences while our vehicles are out and about across the district.

🚐 A range of advertising opportunities may be available across different vehicles within the Council’s fleet.

Campaigns can be tailored to suit different requirements and budgets, with a minimum advertising period of three months.

We’re working with vehicle advertising specialist Roadvert, who can advise on available options and help identify suitable vehicles and routes for your campaign.
